if we drafted americans (which would be an extremely bad thing and result in more domestic terrorism) and crushed them as you say, there wouldnt be anyone left in Iraq. If we came in full force, the whole of Iraq would unite and want to fight us.

I think bush needs to get off his butt and fly to iraq and grab the iraqi president by the neck and say I want to see some progress so I can bring my troops home.

We need to hardpress the iraqi government to start taking over control so we can leave. But currently they keep breaking there deadlines and this administration keeps giving them more time. We need to get more harsher and press them to do a better job and provide them whatever they need to get it done

If we leave now, with no government securing the country and establishing the rule of law, it leaves the door open for Iran to walk in and establish there own puppet government. That would give Iran more power and they will seek intensified confrontations with the US and could lead to WWIII

The end result is inevitable...regardless of when you pull out today or 10 years from now. The die has been cast and the result is predetermined and the American Troops can't stay forever and if you know anything about the culture of the middle east than you would know that these people are patient in settling old scores.

The Middle Easterners have the ability to wait you out...there is too much oil money on the table and the parties are willing to fight for control. So, staying is not really an option because the Arabs, Kurds and Turks are forming their plan and they will wait the Americans Out and then get it on. Its inevitable and George W. Bush set these events in motion.

Your willingness to stay is rooted in the ability not to admit maybe this was a mistake to begin with. That's when pride overrides logic in your decision making process.

Our presence in Iraq has nothing to do with defending this country. All we're doing over there is supporting a faltering (some say failing) govt in the middle of their civil war.

So, the question becomes -- what tangible provable benefits can the US obtain from remaining in Iraq for more then that next 6~8 months (which is how long a withdrawal would take), and are those benefits worth the lives of another thousand troops?

If there are no direct benefits to the US that anyone can identify, that pretty much answers the question.

Yeah right...

A draft would never be allowed unless in a major, major US emergency. The likes of which we have never seen. A nuclear attack for example.

I believe we need to stay the course. Terrorism is wrong no matter how you look at it. The rest of the world needs to realize that and stop letting us be the only one taking corrective action. If we all do our part, it will end sooner.

If all the right wing conservative chicken hawks would go serve their country rather than sit back and let others die for them we would have no need for a draft. Get the yellow bellied ckicken-sh*t conservatives to go fight and the problem would be solved. They should be led by that brave American, Dick Cheney.

If it was up to me you wouldn't be able to see the Middle East because the haze of the mushroom clouds would not have had time to dissipate yet.

The only way to win is with conventional warfare. And since we're not allowed to bomb the crap out of them, we can't possibly win.

We definately need to go in there and get it done. Kick some major A** over there now. If we pull out now...that is where you will see a bigger disaster world wide.

No. WE SHOULD STAY THERE UNTIL THE YEAR 3030. If you disagree, you are a terrorist.
