The Bible shows the number seven is the number of a complete work. It does not say it is God's favorite number.

Much of the Old Testament is based on lunar worship, at least ultimately. The number seven shows up because it's an easy-to-note fraction of a lunar cycle (seven days out of twenty-eight). That's where weeks come from.

Remember, the Hebrews used a lunar calendar. Also note that Sabbaths (essentially 1/4 moon festivals) are nearly always mentioned next to New Moon festivals, at least in the Bible.

It does not say 7 is God's favorite number.

However, from the seven days of creation, to the seven seals on the scroll, to the seven lampstands before the risen Christ...the number 7 has always been a number that meant 'completeness', or 'the whole.'
