Well... some of the thangkas (like icons) that portray the wheel of samsara, and the "angry-looking" deities can be gruesome for those who don't understand the meanings behind the depictions... also erotic imagery in tantric level thangkas.

There's a popular Catholic icon called the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There are variations, but essentially it's the traditional long-haired, blue-eyed guy gazing skyward, one hand lifted in blessing and the other resting casually against his breast -- which has been cut away to expose his heart, usually dripping blood.
I never understood why my mother thought it was okay to hang this thing in her kids' bedrooms.
There's more variations in the crucifix itself; sometimes Jesus' body looks hale and hearty, about to soar into the heavens, but other times it looks so crippled and broken you'd swear he'd been run over by a garbage truck.

Some, lol. The Norse tended to render poetic metaphors in very literal, concrete descriptive language. My favorite one is an image of the Norns (slightly akin to the Greek Fates) seen during a battle weaving the outcome on their loom . . .
Its shuttle a spear, the loom weights human skulls, the warp and woof stretched human intestines . . . gotta love it. :-)

Depends on if you look into the meaning of what the imagry is telling. Many people look at the 'form' of Kali Ma (only) as the Destructress and shudder. Well, look at the symbolism BEHIND Her 'formed' appearance. She is not only the Destructress to many Tantric worshippers.
Plus, I beleive She can take any form, this is the one of so many that people choose to consentrate on.

As for my Pagan beleifs, there is violence between different species of animals and diseaes all the time.
I'd like to comment on what vinslave said about 'erotic tantra' that Tantra is not soley about sex, and not all Tantrics practise sexual parts of Tantra; in fact may reject the 5 Ms (wine, fish, meat, parched grain and sexual union). Meditation on yantras and mantras and offerings to dieties is common for 'right-handed tantrics'

Very.
When bad things happen to me, I thank my god that they were not worse.
When bad things happen to someone else, I thank my god that it did not happen to me.
My religion has much that is beautiful as well. I thank (pray) my god frequently for all kinds of wonderful things all day long. Whenever I want something and I get it, I am thankful. Whenever I see something nice or beautiful, I take a moment to be thankful.
A careful observer would see me tracing "god's eye" on surfaces with my finger whenever I say "thank you".
