"uhmm.. I'd like to be reinstated because you discovered my thinking on this matter was right in the first place, please."

Has anyone on board ever asked for and received reinstatement because of a past offense that's now ok in the "new light?" I'd love to hear how it went and how they made you word your request so it sounded like you were still wrong and they were being merciful.

yeah, I know. I wouldn't do it, but another poster in another question answered to be reinstated when new light came about, you'd have to request it. I just wondered how that'd go for the person.

again.

unrepentant about initial wrongdoing, unrepentant about wanting back in now that it's clear they never did anything wrong in the first place. Maybe they want back in so they're not estranged from their whole family? Maybe they think it's something they can live with? Do they have to pretend to be "repentant?" how would that conversation go? "sorry I . Now that it's no longer a sin, may I come back?" clearer?

sugarpie, the point of this exercise is: we're examining "new truth" and those who've been disfellowshipped for deeds done under old truths, for which they were unrepentent, but for which today, no questions would be asked about the exact same activity. No need to be repentant, except.... they've already been disfellowshipped for the activity back when it wasn't allowed.

see how confusing this "new light" issue is? JWs can't even wrap their mind around it.

i love your question...but I doubt you will find any actual disfellowshipped witnesses demanding their rights....God Completes his good work and if he leads you out , i doubt that he would be letting you go back.....Besides the watchtower society does not make mistakes and certainly not apologies

you could write your letter something like this.....Dear elders: I was right about the **** sex thing being OK in marriage...but you advised my wife to divorce me and leave me any way...so since the WBTS has New light on the matter, and decided that**** sex is OK in marriage, could you please put my family back together and re-enstate me, ASAP..Thank you in Christ.

That one is dedicated to you Anna...You know why..LOL Merry Christmas, early

I dont think cathrine knowe what **** means...if she did, she would not be rewarding herself......makes her look silly.

I've been studying for about a year. Really seriously for the last 5 months or so. Will be baptized June at District Convention. Live in the Southeast. I love, of course, the association of brothers and sisters. But I also appreciate the fact that I KNOW the truth. I know the reason behind all of the wickedness in this world. I'm so glad I'm not blind anymore or caught up in the lies that the churches tell. No wonder there are so many atheists on Y/A. They see the hypocrisy! Also I love what the truth has done for my family life. My marriage, for one, is no longer a "prison." We are all so grateful for the bible that Jehovah's given us to benefit ourselves. My husband too has started studying. He now stands by my side when others oppose us - even his own family! I love knowing I am on the side of Jehovah the Almighty!

Adam's Rib is correct. You are disfellowshipped when you unrepentantly commit a sin as outlined in the Bible (such as fornication, adultery, lying, stealing, etc.).
For example, a man was disfellowshipped when he cheated on his wife. His wife was willing to forgive him, but he told her he'd have to THINK about it. Now that is just a slap in the face!
And Lysdexic Princess, thank you for proving that point perfectly.

And since you didn't get it the first time, look at the first sentence. You can only be disfellowshipped for things that are considered serious sins in the Bible. I listed a few examples in that first sentence. Those never change.

lol @ naughty santa! ;)

But yeah, they would HAVE to reinstate you.

Adam's Rib: INCORRECT!!! They may TELL you a person was df'd for attitude.. .but it DOES happen for action. Don't be so quick to believe the WBTS over the "apostate". You will be very surprised to one day learn...

Wow I think the bigger issue here is that today's JWs don't know about all the changes that have gone on in the past and that is why they are not understanding this question.

Sugarpie is right that Jehovah's laws don't change... but WBTS's laws do!

I don't really understand you saying that what you did "is now o.k."

Jehovah's laws do not change

also, for the record , having a repentant attitude is necessary
you sound very defensive about wnatever the issue was/is

Why would you ask for reinstatement in the first place if you proved them wrong? I would imagine that the situation you speak of doesn't happen all too often.

That's the way it goes for many high-control religious groups.
