What I mean is that do you think animals think about what they are doing and what they are about to do in life?

Animals have 3 main instincts...

1) Eat
2) Mate
3) Eat (sometimes even their own offspring.)

In other words, all animals seek to survive, and it's not something they get to decide.

PBS did a 3-part miniseries awhile back called "Inside The Animal Mind." I've only seen them re-air it once, but you can still buy the dvd. Great show.

Animals have a basic instinct to serve their needs, according to their kind and ability. "Success" in this case is dependent upon their ability to meet those needs. I believe karma plays a huge part, but that's just my Buddhist opinion.
