where do you live.. that's probably a pretty big factor when deciding how much to spend on a vehicle. My husband was recently looking for a truck just to drive back and forth to work ... it needed slight body work, ran great was a 95 blazer and had about the same mileage... for $700 dollars though. Which, in this area (sw Ohio) that's a pretty normal price.. we also just sold a 91 lumina for $400 had lower miles then the previous and ran well. I think your best bet is to check Kelly blue book. Dealing with people you regularly see (like the guy at work) it would be really unfortunate for someone to get ripped off... you or him, especially since it's someone you'll have to face if something unforeseen happens. No one likes confrontation at the work place!
Best of Luck!!

With the air bad no guarantee that it just needs to be charged could be no leaks but could be the clutch or unit is gone and the window not working, and if it is the radiator fan then not worth more than $800- 900 NO WAY is worth $1500

pretty much any car that runs is worth that much. A window motor is not much from a junkyard and easy to change with common tools. You might take the door panel off and find its something simple like a loose wire or missing bolts. The fan i would be worried about a bit. It may be a dual fan system, my car is that way and one fan does not work but car stays cool unless im sitting in gridlock for too long. I would not take him at his word on the AC being just low on refrigerant...assume that it may never work again and if you do get it going its a bonus.

I don't think a 17 year old car is worth $1,500. Take it to a mechanic and see what they say it is worth, it may have a lot of problems.

i wouldnt pay more than 1100 for a car that age with the problems it has. don't buy the first car thats avalible if you wait, you can buy a grandmothers old accord with half the miles and less abuse.
