Transmission guy told me last year that, if you leave the gas cap off, the car senses it and reverts to another mode of fuel injection. This gives me bad gas mileage. How do I tell the computer that the cap is on again? (2002)

Disconnect the negative battery lead off the battery and wait two minutes. Then reconnect the battery cable to the battery.

Planet transmission I guess? Take the car by your local Auto-Zone and get the P0455 evap gross leak code cleared. Let us know if they find any other codes. Evap P0455 code does not change the way the car drives or the fuel emissions other than the vapor leaking out of the unsealed gas cap.

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable from the car for a few minutes...reconnect the cable and drive the car at highway speed (55) for about 5 miles...this will reset the computers factory setting.

There are 2 ways to do this...1. Can go to Autozone, and get the codes read on the computer, and ask to clear them, if thats the only problem. 2. If you have patience, can and should go out on its own after, and up to 20 start up cycles. Hope this helps, good luck.
