I've heard that Jose Cuervo, while popular, isn't the greatest choice for doing tequila shots. I was wondering what other people suggested.

Preferably something that won't have me turning inside-out the next morning. :)

How much do you like your pocket book?
Cuervo isn't bad, but it's not friendly to everybody.
I know several people who really like Two Fingers for doing shots (and mixing).
I think Patron is a good, smooth tequila, but it's pricier than Cuervo. Cabo Wabo isn't bad either.

I prefer Contemporativo, it has an angel on the front of it, and is very hard to find but by far the smoothest. If you not afraid to spend a little extra cash Patrone is also very good, the more you spend in the Patrone the better it tastes. If you want something reasonable in price 1800 gold is good. I have never gotten hangovers from these....Just don't mix any other liquor or beer with this, if you drink beer make sure it's good quality.

Most of the previous answers are good ones. It really depends on your personal taste though. In general, the more expensive the alcohol is, the better it will taste as a shot.

The most popular (in my experience) would be: Patron, Sauza, and Cabo Wabo.

Just don't drink too much and you shouldn't be turning inside out the next day, that's the real trick to not feeling sick.

Have fun.

i'm sorry that somebody advised you that Cuervo replaced into 'reliable' tequila. in case you like an spectacular, no longer-too-costly Tequila, I recommend Partida. reckoning on your needed use, you are able to in all possibility get away with Blanco. in case you propose on eating it on the instant (no longer capturing it), you pays somewhat extra and get the two Reposado or Anejo...a great variety of individuals do no longer comprehend that growing to be older Tequila (very resembling wine) provides many flavors, the two diffused and in enhance...and an Anejo from Partida beverages like a 1998 Burgundy to those interior the recognize.

Check out shoppersvineyard.com and select tequila brands. I don't know who you "heard" that from but tequila is very similar across brands. Same ABV and same ingredients. Now gin/vodka is a different story.
