can someone tell me what was so bad about a person tearing his soul. dumbledore said that people would rather die then split their soul. why? also what did they mean when they said in the first book that drinking a unicorns blood would result in a half life and a cursed life. what does a cursed life mean. what would it be like?
and how do you become a ghost. nearly headless said he would have rather died. why? i mean wouldn't you want to live forever?

this is a work of fiction and thankfully only the imagination of a brilliant woman. INHO the concept behing the soul spliiting is very obvious - the soul is the home of our spirit - not like a ghost but rather the essence of our good and evil, our everything. remember the term selling your soul to the devil - meaning giving all away for earthly pleasures adn caring only for ones self.... living half a life or a cursed life is a choice and who doesn't want to experience the fullnesss of life?!

as for nearly headless nick - there too - he can not enjoy life - not at all and yet if he were to fully die - he would find the richness of life everlasting in the afterlife - with God.

Um,

It's a book. A fictional book.

The author can make up whatever she wants.

At least the Harry Potter books are a lot more consistant than the other books that get mentioned a lot around here.

I think you're reading a bit too much into the story. It's just a novel. Enjoy it, but don't try to practice it.
