I am 15 years old and i don't know if i will feel really scared if i went on an airplane. Last time i went on airplane was when i was 8-9 years old but i really enjoyed flying. But i am afriad of being soo high up the sky..but i am not scared of ancidents, just scaed of height. So, i am not sure if i will be scared or not. What can i do to make myself more relaxed and not be nervous about flight.
Also, have you ever been in this situation?
Thank you!!

Sit in an aisle seat rather than next to a window if you're scared of heights. There's probably not much you can do to get rid of nervousness ahead of the flight. However, once you get on the plane and it takes off, you'll start to calm down.

Did you know:
that there are less accidents in the air then there are with busses, cars, trains, and ships?
That over sea connections nowadays have 2 airmarshals on each flight?
If you chose not to look out of the window you think you are in a train?
I love to fly for those reasons. It is quite an experience to fly and I do so frequently. I have no worries, not even about crashes. My idea is that if my day is meant to happen in an airplane or because of one, then that'll be my fate.....and at least things gonna be done and over fast, unlike in train, car, bus, or ship accidents where you can die a slow and horrible death. So instead of thinking about the negative side of flying(the height), maybe you can consider all the positive things and get over your initial fear? Good Luck

yes it is very normal. Everyone must have one time been scared of flying cause they know that they r going to be very scared. But once you get in your comfertable chair and u have a magazine in your hand and you have your snack box or your meal and a drink all the fear melts away into happiness! I was like that when I first went on a plane going to CA! I was very nervous but then it totally melts away. You have nothing to be afraid of just enjoy yourself. My friend recently went on her first plane ride. She was so freaken nervous but when she got on there she loved it and wished she would have gone on more plane rides.
Trust me you will love flying. Just take a nap, listen to your ipod, talk to the person beside you. Forget how high you are. Tell yourself that the pilots flying the plane are pros or else they wouldn't be flying the plane. I think you will do fine.

hiya. get an aisle seat & dont look out the window unless you're sure your fear of heights is not going to be a problem. other than that, wear some knock-out clothes & think of yourself as a film star jetting off to some exotic location for your next shoot - after all, you are travelling 'somewhere'. A good book also helps or listening to some music but be sure that you can use your MP3 player (or whatever) during the flight. Good luck honey & HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

I think most people feel a little nervous flying...You will only feel that plane and height feeling for the first 15mins in take off and landing..Just try not looking out the window and you wont know you're that high...There are alot more car accidents then plane accidents so theologically you are alot safer in the sky then in a car..hope that helps

Ok breath.........I was terrified too! but once i got up there you just really don't remember that you are that high up. While youare on the plane talk to people maybe a parent. I like to sit next to the window so i could see what was going on. If you are scared then dont sit next to the window sit by the aisle. Try and entertain yourself. Take some head phones and listen to some music. good luck.

I have been scared before a little when there is turbulance. Flying is proven to be safer per mile than driving-I try to remember this when I fly. Also take a book or something to keep you mentally busy while you fly-this helps too. Also, watch the faces of the flight attendants to see if they look worried. They will know if its bad because of their experience.

The best thing to do since you are more afraid of the height and not worrying about crashes or ect. you should close your window before the flight takes off and make a point not to look out of the window, if you are not afraid of crashing like you say you arent then just tell yourself that since we arent going to crash i have no worry about being this high in the air, try and think as logically as possible and keep the worries out of your head

I was really nervous before I flew in an airplane for the first time, but I had a great time. Just try to keep yourself busy. If you don't have someone to talk to, bring a book to read.

Dont sit near a window, try the middle. Next, take something to occupy you: book, ipod, video game, magazine, etc...
you can also like stay up all night, get tired, then you can sleep on the flight and you wont know how high you are
