Cram,cram,cram--or take an electronic translator--A lot of people in Germany speak English--in Europe they seem to stress taking English in school. The best way to learn a language is to live in that country for awhile--not always feasible though.

Oy vey. You'd better be a troll. First off, the British speak the English language, just with an accent. Secondly, I think you should master your current "first language" before you attempt to learn a new one. (i.e. "WHICH language," "SPEAK in a WEEK.") Thirdly, unless you're some sort of superhuman, it is essentially impossible to learn an entire new language in seven days. I've been studying Japanese for months, and I'm not fluent. However, it is easy to pick up a few phrases or words in a foreign language that you could show her. For example, French (But if she's at all intelligent, she'll know all this): Hello: Mistakawasen yo Goodbye: Oyveytrollaja How are you: Meow I think you are pretty: Ifyouwerea boogeridpicky oufirst Now go and impress her with your new knowledge of the French language!

If you only have a week you're pretty much screwed. My best recommendation would be to expose yourself to as much spoken German as possible. I'm sure that if you look on the web you could find a German radio or TV broadcast that you could listen to.
