I have a 1994 Nissan Altima. It has been sitting in my driveway for two years because it has not been working. It needs a new engine and a whole lot of old stuff that I don't understand. I want to get it fixed, but I don't know how much it would cost. Does anyone in Houston, Tx know of a good mechanic that would help fix my car or should I just get a new one? I wish I knew all of the details of whats wrong with it, but all I know is that it needs a new engine.

1994? 2004 ten years and in 2005 or 2006 the car lost its motor and other things so you just parked it. Give it away to a local charity or church or have it sold for scrap weight. Trust me sitting at the end of the drive way has not repaired any problems and has caused other brake hydraulic leaks and even more expensive repairs. Battery is now dead and you really haven't thought of 4,000 to restore the engine and a additional 2,000 for new tires brakes and cosmetics have you? Your best option is scrap iron and purchase a modern Nissan Versa. Sorry!

You can get a used engine installed for $1000-$1500; but note what the others a saying.

The bill will definately keep going up after the engine is installed. Expect to pay $2,500 so you won't get surprised.

So - unless it's a cream puff or has some pretty strong sentimental value - I'd junk it and put that $75.00 in your pocket.

new engine will cost more than the car is worth. And if the engine is gone then more things are likely to go wrong with it to. Get another car.

A new engine will cost way more than the car is worth....at least a couple thousand. Scrap it and get another car.

It may be cheaper to get a newer used car than spending the money to get an engine replaced/rebuilt, etc. However, most any body shop could give you an estimate.

I would not waste the money on a 13 year old car. Offer it for sale for parts, or just send it to the junk yard.
