Say a person wants to join the U.S. Airforce. reaches to the point where he/she has to go through the security interview. They do thier job on asking questions such as "Have you ever used Drugs?""Drank Alcohol?" etc.... But the person trying to get into the military tells the Security Interviewer "No I have never used Drugs." when really you did. (twice,mary-jane in other words). Is that a good idea. Its not like they're gonna know. Or find out.... if its been years since you stopped For Good (permanatley of Drug Use) Basically you don't see it as you did them even though you did. you look at it as you tryed them during High School years because you just wanted to know what everybody saw in stupid things such as Weed. So what happens if You say no. i've never did Drugs. It is Legal in Portugal & some parts of the world such as parts in Europe. And remember now you basically tried it not DID it (but in ur mind u know u really did) Plus you don't want them to think they can't trust you because of that

"Its not like they're gonna know, or find out...." That is one of my favorite quotes. I hear it all the time, but have seen it work out far less for the people who think that. We just had three people lose security clearances for things that "no one would know or find out." The USAF Core Values are Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. The fact that you are considering lying about your past questions your integrity already, and you have not even joined. When you join the military you represent something far larger than yourself. If you can not live up to those values from day one, do not take the oath. Honesty is the best policy.

If you tell them you have never done drugs, they won't believe you anyway. I grew up very sheltered and never tried any form of narcotic. My security interview lasted almost an hour because they wouldn't believe I had never smoked weed. If you did it a hundred years ago and haven't since, tell them. It won't cause you any lasting pain. Unless you are a hardcore user, it won't affect your security clearance. If you lie and they find about it later when they do the insanely detailed background check for top secret clearances, kiss any chance for a clearance goodbye. Better to get it out in the open now than let them find out you tried to hide it.

I was in the Air Force and you need to tell them the truth. Once or twice will not hurt, but you need to tell them. When they find out and they will find out you lied, you will be in serious trouble. It is called falsifying a government document and you will get a huge fine and or jail time and will never be allowed into another federal job EVER.

If you do some how get into the Air Force and they find out after you are in, you will be discharged and most likely put in jail.

Even if you are in another part of the world where it is legal, it does not matter because you are a US citizen.

If you are joining the AF, please remember the Core Values: Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in All You Do. Would lying for a security clearance interview uphold the Core Values??

Just something to think about....

Tell them the truth. If you end up in a job where they do an SBI (Special Background Investigation) they'll interview your friends, neighbors and even teachers. They'll find out you're lying. The truth is always the best polity.

hah, you can be honest, if you don't want a job in the air force, and you definatly never get a secret security clearance. I got one, and they did call a single one of my refrances.

anything less than 10 times with marijuana is no problem at all, any other drug is totally disqualifying. they just dont want to see a history of drug use. Be careful what you say though, you don't want to permanantly DQ yourself

Deny any drug use if it has been a long time and will not show up in any test. You will not get a top secret clearance with drug use on your record.

Don´t worry, tell them you never have used drogues, is the reality and don´t be so curious with somethings.

Be honest. They will find out anyway. They will forgive you more for past mistakes than present lies.
