Perhaps because they don't believe that the Christian faith offers anything more than mythology.

Because there is no evidence gods exist. Why do people believe in such primitive superstitious nonsense as gods anyway?

Why not believe in genies or leprechauns instead?
Why would sensible people abandon all hope of getting three wishes or a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

Some "sensible" and intelligent people don't buy into normal mainstream religions, or possibly any at all. In fact, most of the truly sensible, intelligent, and logical people I have met are not devout religious people. They choose to look into themselves and observe their own surroundings for their understandings and beliefs, rather than memorize and follow the teachings of a certain organization.
Having preprogrammed beliefs and "understandings" can distort ones perception of reality, compared to a person whose perspective does not have to conform to any preset "rules".
As far as relying on your hope to rest solely on the controversial happenings of one man 2000 years ago... I prefer to deal with the present. Not that I don't believe he did exist. Or that he was possibly truly enlightened and a blessing to the world (to that point anyway). But a GOD no more than you or I.

Nice thinly veiled attack.

I could wonder myself my most normally sensible people abandon logic and reason for what is nothing more than myth and hopes/wishes. BUt I wouldnt be that rude now, would I?

Well, let me answer that with a question of my own... why do people who believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced to eat from a magical tree by an infinitely sadistic being, disguised as a talking snake with legs... (etc.)... think that there is comething wrong with folks who DON'T believe such ridiculous, insane codswallop?

because they are not normal sensible people. As long as you don't abandon Christ and the hope he gives, you have nothing to stress about. Forget what everyone else is doing

Because there is no scientific evidence that shows prayer as an effective solution to anything other than personal fears.

That's their choice. They miss out, in my mind, but then they have a right to their belief system.

I accept it and refuse to play into the name-calling game that some of them resort to. I would never sink so low as to call them "retarded" or "idiotic," as you see some of them have done.

When they become fed up with life and feel as if their prayers have not been heard by God, frustration would lead them to believe that God is not listening and doesn't care for them.

I only have one thing to say to that.

WHAT?

It's funny but even though this question does not even make sense, the fundies will try to answer it with some metaphysical nonsense.
