I know that pale gums are a sign of illness, but he has no other problems that I've noticed.. his breath is not great, but it's not bad either.. He has not acted different in any way.. I'm going to the vet tomorrow anyway.. (parvo shot).. so, I'll ask her.. but curious to know if anyone has any ideas..

He eats the same amount at the same time every day, he has not gained or lost any weight, and he is very active.. Live with two other dogs who's gums are normal..

I'm not panicking, nor am I trying to save money by asking on here.. just curious to see what people will say..

Oh, and since I didn't already say, he is a neutered 6 year old.

Nope, he doesn't have parvo.. it's just time for his booster.. (once a year).. as for worms, he's been checked..

Dehydration isn't likely, there's 3 bowls of water throughout the house and if any of the bowls is empty one of the other dogs throws it at us. (well, okay, tosses in the air so it hits the hard wood floor until we notice) It's also air conditioned. He does drink, but not as much as the other dogs..

Had his teeth cleaned last year.. (about 3 months after I got him) and have kept up pretty well with brushing..

I'm not too worried .. as I said just curious..

Usually it is related to anemia. Healthy gums are pink, and when you press lightly on them, the color should come back quickly. You will probably see your vet do that tomorrow at the apointment. Light gums are usually related to the blood in some way, but if he is healthy and seems to be fine, it probably isn't an emergency. It is good that you are going in, the vet may want to run bloodwork, or she may look at it and say it is fine. Good luck!

Are the gums white? Or mild? What touching directly to the area around the eyeball ("pull" down the decrease lid with your finger a splash and look) using fact if an animal is anemic that area will look white besides. maximum doggies have worms, it incredibly is actual, yet they're born with Roundworms (they're handed from the mum). The worms that reason anemia are hookworms, as they "hook" onto the intestines and drink blood and protein, so puppies finally end up with Buddha bellies (fluid) and lightweight gums (from anemia). Roundworms do no longer reason this, in basic terms digestive disenchanted. in case you pup has WHITE gums, is torpid, no longer respiration nicely, etc, then i could bypass to the vet top now, using fact low stream reasons mild gums, and that's an emergency difficulty if the blood tension drops or she has inner bleeding. in the event that they simply look mild pink, this can be the canines's organic shade, as no longer all canines have those ambitious, pink gums in basic terms of course. i think of that bringing her to the vet is a robust theory just to be sure, as straightforward ailments could reason substantial themes in little doggies, using fact they're so youthful. stable success!

Pale gums are often a sign of anemia or dehydration. Don't know how hot it is where you live, but water consumption may have something to do with it.

Make sure he has plenty of access to water, and definitely mention it to your vet!

White or pale gums could be a sign of worms. My daughter works at an animal shelter and that is what she told me.

I'm not sure what would have caused it if he's still playful and active but pale gums are usually a sign of blood loss or shock.

Might be nothing. Gum disease is a possibility in a dog that age if the dog hasn't had proper dental care.

He sounds fine...just ask your vet tomorrow. It's probably nothing serious, there's a hair of a chance he might just need his teeth cleaned. not sure tho...
