It is always interesting that there are people who use that term "God's army", why would an all powerful being need an army? The reason why I brought this up is that someone had mentioned that trash called "Jesus Camp" and knowing nothing about it, I went to the site and it mentioned the children being brainwashed into being part of God's army. So does that mean that God is no longer all powerful and he needs an army? Because he certainly does nothing here on the planet to make it seem like he has power at all, except for some book (the Bible) which a 3rd grade child could have written.

dze: He wants one, to quote you. Did I miss the memo somewhere? Darn, once again out of the loop, could you please provide the copy of the memo for the atheists to see that it was signed by God himself?

Because religious people are all about destroying things, like someone's mind, or their hopes, etc. You need an army to be able to do that, to destroy.

maybe its because although hes all-powerful, hes also supposed to be a nice guy. So he gets people to do his dirty work for him instead of getting blood on his own hands. Not terribly inspiring of him, but the best explination I could come up with.
oh and ppl acting like he doesnt actually have an army, which functions the way typical armies are supposed to function, obviously havent read a word of the bible. Thats the whole friggen point of the second coming.

Better yet "Why does God need a starship ? " JTK
Btw I disagree with you, even the boy -genius that I was in 3rd grade would have had trouble writing the Bible. I do think that Gods' cause would have been better served if he had selected better authors to write his book. Can you imagine what the Bible would read like if it was written by Homer ? We would have an actual physical description of Christ. Interesting.

hehe I asked this question a while ago. I dont see the sense in religious armies. or spiritual warfare. I dont see why they recruit children at such a young age either. The part about that movie that rips my guts out is the little girl on the cover is crying over abortion. Even though I was raised fundie they only terrorized me with the prospect of Hell. I was spared the abortion lecture.

It is always interesting that the people who ask these questions are the ones who probably haven't attened church, or tried to read the bible.
I'm going to assume God's Army is a club. We Christians aren't going to march down the streets with guns and condem you all non-believers. I'm guessing the purpose of it is to spread the news about Jesus.
How can you say God doesn't do anything here on this planet? Look at life. God created you, He created every person to be an individual. The thing is He gives us the choice of whether or not to follow Him.

God's army is no match for the Atheist Air Force, led by Obi-Wan Kenobi himself...we'll be dropping the A-bomb on their puny ground forces daily from now until the end of time.

"a 3rd grade child could have written."
I think you may have stumbled across a historical mystery that has dumbfounded people for millenia.
Perhaps the bible was a story written by a 3rd grade class.

That's some good old time religion right there
The Bible also states he has tens of millions angels who serve as soldiers to kill all the unbelievers at Armageddon. Why does he need them to do the slaughtering?

I think that many people believe they need to be part of an army so the awful fact that each of us dies alone won't feel so burdensome.
I suspect that God, if God exists, is rather indifferent to it all.
