We were fighting the tail end of a cold already... I have read somewhere that strep can incubate for 5 days?

It depends on your immune systems & how close of contact you had with the child. You have a better chance of getting it if the child had a fever or had not been on antibiotics. Usually antibiotics will make it less contageous in about 24-48 hrs. I don't know about an incubation period- I usually catch it very quickly. You might take some vitamin C just in case too. I hope this helps & you stay healthy! Good luck!

Try taking some Air Borne. I have had really good luck with that, and I come into contact with everything because of my job! If you get a sore throat or the baby seems fussy, go to the doctor. My granddaughter had strep when she was 5 and we didn't even know it because she had no fever, just a mild sore throat for a few days. Then she developed other complications from it, so don't hesitate to call the doc if you have a sore throat or the baby seems fussy.

It's highly contagious, so I would say chances are your child will end up with it. You may not as children are more likely to get it. Just keep an eye on them.
