I have a minifridge in my room, which stays at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I have a pack of those little Poland Spring 'Aqua pods', but since they are expensive and i have a water filter on my sink, I would rather just refill them and put them back in the fridge. Could there be any bacterial problems if they are in there for a certain amount of time? I'm saying no to myself, but I know never to drink standing water etc, so I would like to be sure.

whoever said to use bleach is crazy. Why would you use even a diluted concentration of bleach to clean out a water bottle. Just rinse the things out really good and fill them up. I dont' know why everyone's so scared of plastic nowadays.

You shouldn't have any problems if you sanitize them. One way has already been suggested, boiling water, but I would dump the boiled water and refill with fresh filtered water. The other way is to swish a solution of household bleach, 9:1 water to bleach, let stand for 20-30 minutes and rinse with filtered water before filling.

I wouldn't drink water older than 1 week or so after you've refilled it. It no longer has the original seal on it so bacteria could, theoretically, grow. I reuse my water bottles, but change them every few weeks and wash them each time I fill them.

You can refill them, but throw them out if they develop any cracks or warping in the plastic in any shape or form. I would also drink the refilled bottles as soon as possible and not let them hang out for longer than a week.

I don't think so, I always rinse them with clean filtered water and I re- use the bottle for at least three days.

What you should do is to boil the water before you fill the bottles and then you can refrigerate them as long as you want without any harm

use them, no problem. The only thing I've heard is that you shouldn't freeze water in them.
the person who said don't use them more than twice... doesn't make sense. If you use them twice then why shouldn't you use them a 3rd or 4th time?

JUST GIVE THE BOTTLES A RINSE BEFORE FILLING. MAYBE USE A LITTLE SOAP ONCE IN A WHILE (ANTIBACTERIAL IF YOU LIKE) JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE A 'BUG' OR WORRIED ABOUT GERMS. OTHERWISE IT SHOULD BE PRETTY SAFE TO BOTTLE YOUR OWN WATER.

as long as you wash them b4 you refill them, you will be OK. Even freezing them or microwaving them doesn't hurt them. If you look on snopes.com, the freezing thing is a myth.
