First, I'd like to say "good for you!!" and "congrats!" on deciding to change your life and health for the better. I lost 100 pounds and I can tell you that you have no idea of the treat you are in for if you reach your goal! You will feel 100% better, you will be able to do more stuff, you will look much sexier and people will treat you so good.

Having said that, the unfortunate news is that you will having excess skin. Losing this weight now while you are young will make your skin adjust better but the truth is the skin will be loose in certain areas of your body, in particular your arms, thighs and lower abdomen. A slow, steady weight loss will help reduce this, but it will be there.

The fear you feel, however, should not be about loose skin. This is a small thing overall. If you are at a healthy weight, the loose skin serves to remind you of your achievment and how far you've come. And trust me, you will be much sexier at your goal weight regardless of the amount of loose skin. No fear.

Finally, it took me two and a half years to loose 100 pounds. Weight loss is a tricky business in that your body sets the pace, not your mind. Sticking to a plan will give your body the circumstances under which to lose weight, but it ultimately decides on the pace. You will have period where you will lose weight rapidly (don't be afraid of this) and you will have periods where you plateau and don't lose anything (again, no fear). Just stick to you plan and don't try to control or force the situation.

Here is what I did:
1) Weigh and measure (check, waist, hips, thighs) once a week. Write these measurements down on a calendar.

2) Walk for 60-75 minutes five times per week.

3) Drop the soda (diet or otherwise) and ditch the sweets. Eventually, you can add these things back in with moderation but not for awhile.

4) Eat smaller portion sizes. Build a plate of food (or cut a plate of food at a restaurant in half) and stop after that plate. Chew gum, do dishes, but stop eating regardless of if you re hungry still or not. Your stomach is stretched out and you will feel hungry if you don't eat your normal fill (which is way too much food). Eventually, it will shrink and adjust to the smaller portions and so will your body.

Good fate! I am rooting for you!

IT all depends. I had a friend who lost around 300 lbs, and his skin sagged slightly, but was mostly just elastic. I wouldn't worry about the skin though. There are surgerys that can be done to remove the excess, and having saggy skin is far less unhealthy than being 160 pounds overweight. Best of Luck to you. YOU CAN DO IT.
