two kittens?

we bought a kitten a month ago and then we just bough a nother. kyria was our first kitten. then we bough asylum. they are a week apart but we have had kyria a month longer. she is twice his size. she used to be a jumpy kitten who ran around the house but now that we have asylum she just sits around. is she going to return to her old self when they get used to each other. and how long is it going to take for them to get along.

Well there is a proper way to introduce kittens. You can't just throw them together. They need to be seperated for awhile, and then slowly introduced. The new kitten should still be in its safe room, uch as a bathroom where it mainly lives. Then you can get them used to each others scent by rubbing a sock on one and then taking that sock and rubbing it on the other; then do it in reverse for the other cat with a different sock. This puts the other cats scent on the cat so it gets use to the smell.

You can introduce the new one in a carrier for a few seconds to a minute with the established cat just so they can see each other, then offer a treat so they know that good things happen with the other cat.

The process goes on, but it very slow. For details, you may want to borrow from the library or by a book called "Think like a Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett, and her other book called "Cat vs. Cat". You can get both together at amazon for about $22.

You should also not play with any type of string with your cat. It is dangerous for them to swallow, and can happen very quickly. You don't want to associate those objects with fun, and will want all strings, yarn, etc put away in a secure place. Trust me, I had a cat chew off a cord form a sweatshirt and swallow about 12 inches of it. It could have tangled inside of her and killed her, but luckily it came out with no life-threatening effect. If your cat does swallow a string or you see one coming out of their bottom, dont pull it out. take them to the vet immediately. Pulling it out can kill them.

My kittens were about a month apart in age so one was quite a big larger than the other. I took the new kitten and put it into a carrier and let the other cat come up and smell the kitten and then after 10 minutes I let the kitten out to explore and meet the other cat. It took about a week for the two kittens to get used to each other and play good together. Now they are the best of friends! Give Kyria alot of attention so she doesn't feel like she's being replaced.

Well, what's happening is your first cat feels as though it may be losing attention. They're just like people. Make sure to give Kyria just as much attention as Asylum. And a good way to get them used to each other is to play with them both at the same time. For example, use a shoelace, string, yarn, whatever and have them both go after it... If that doesn't work, just wait a while and she'll be normal again. As I said, they're just like people. I agree, give Kyria some extra love & attention so she doesn't feel like she's being replaced. It usually takes @ least a week, but your kitties will probably become best friends when they get used to each other. Since they are both so young, it may take an even shorter time before they begin to play with each other. Good luck with them.

i don't think that is so worng because when u have a kitten for a while she is just careful about her place and family she should be back to her self soon
