Wow this is crazy! Finally....the voices in America has been heard! We all want to stop the war in Iraq and bring our troops back home safe and sound. The Democrats are doing all they can to bring back our troops and end this stupid war, but unfortunately, our PRESIDENT George W. Bush recently vetoed a supplement bill that was passed by congress to BRING BACK OUR TROOPS SAFETLY AND END THIS WAR!.....Yes, believe it or not...congress passed that bill, but George Bush DENIED it! That means he is denying what the American people want, and even denying the congress. WOW! What kind of a respectable President is that? People voted for him because they thought he was supposed to be here to protect us and serve us. He was supposed to be our "Hero" but instead he is wrongfully using his power.
Did you guys know that we are spending 12 BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH just because of this war??? I mean seriously.....12 billion dollars a month! Do you know how many lives we can save with

that kind of money? With 12 billion dollars a month we can help end world hunger and do A LOT for this country, but instead....the President chooses to spend that money killing people in Iraq as well as our American Troops....all because he has a ******* ego!
Well done........Well done indeed if your goal was to end our world a little faster. Let's all make sure we vote for the RIGHT President in the near future and impeach our current one. We all make mistakes and learn from them, but unfortunately, Bush will continue to make mistakes without remorse.

No, I don't like George W. Bush, and I truly believe he was only re-elected because the Democrats in the last Presidential Election had no strong candidate to oppose him. Had Obama or Hillary been in the last election, the Democrats would have won the Presidency IMO. It is like I told a friend of mine on election day, can we vote for "None of the above" on the ballot?
Here is my biggest problems with the war:
1) You heard that the Iraqi Government has met NONE of the benchmarks set forth by the US. Why should they get everything set up when they know that our president won't withdraw the troops and what not, and they will continue to stay around?
2) Democracy is not for everyone. For the most part, it works successfully over here. Doesn't mean it will in Iraq. Those people in Iraq have lived by a long-standing ideal of hatred; it is almost as if they live by the rule, "shoot first, ask questions later." The longer we stay there, the more they resent us.
3) We hear time after time Bush, Cheaney, and other members of the Republican Party say, "We will win the war on Terrorism." Answer me this question-- How do we do that? It isn't like you are dealing with a piece of paper, or a candy wrapper, or a broken plate that you can throw away and get rid of anytime you so choose. Terrorism is something that is going to continue to take place LONG after all of us here on these Yahoo Answers are gone. If you get rid of one terrorist group, there are 10 more waiting in line to do the same thing. It is a "war" the USA will NEVER win, and will NEVER control.
I could care less what happens in Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. Those people don't pay my bills and they feel the exact same way about us. Let them blow each others heads off for all I care. I say we end the war the easy way-- Just blow the entire area off the map!!

As an individual in the Navy, I have been in the air and on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan and seen the war first hand better than most folks have. First, I find it funny that most of the people whom are anti-war, are the people who are too lazy to get off of their butts and fight for our great nation...and to those people please debate about things you can relate to...like Jerry Springer, Riki Lake, etc... Now on to the topic at hand:
1. Was the post invasion Iraq process mismanaged? Yes, but not just by USA....by all coalition forces. Nobody envisioned the amount of on the ground support we would need to fend off Sunni and Shia extremists that rose out of the cracks in a post Saddam Iraq. It was cocky of us to think that once he was out of power that all Iraqi's would bow to our feet and pronounce America as the great liberator, but nobody thought the uproar would have been to the magnitude that it did(no thanks to Sadr and his militia)
2. Should we pull our troops out? No way...if we left now, it would create a giant void of control in the country and every cleric with a couple of AK-47's would shoot it out for control of their respective provinces and the end result of that is multilple war lords controlling the nation(now thrusted into the biggest civil war the world has seen since America's) all of which would be as vicious if not worse than Saddam and his sons were. If you think the genocide that happened to the Kurds was bad...wait until you see Shia and Sunni ethnic cleansing in Sunni and Shia controlled provinces respectively.
3. What is the answer...There is no right answer but chew on this...after WW2, the amount of troops that it took to maintain peace in postwar Germany was astronomical. I'm not advocating more troops in Iraq, but we learn our best lessons from the past right?

Yes, I like Bush.
And in case you have missed the last six months, the Democrats have done NOTHING WHATSOEVER to bring the troops home, thereby breaking their promise. They could have held out indefinitely, but chose not to (THANK GOD!!!)
You have some strange ideas about the Presidency and the role of Congress.

Yeah, those brave Democrats. Where were they (and the others), when the Pres. arbitrarily declared war on Iraq? I don't recall hearing a single protest. Only when it became popular to cry out against the war, did we hear them.
All wars (at least, in the last hundred years) involving the U.S. are fought in the interests of big business--there's a lot of profit in war. The Pres. speaks for the ones with the $$, not the little people--they are the "cannon fodder."

i support the president and our military 100% and i totally agree with tex as well with all your questions and for those who oppose our president and our troops do everyone a favor if you cant stand behind our troops then stand in front of them and stop your whinning and complaining period and im sure the ones who are against it have never voted a day in there life and are following the crowd instead of being there own person and making up there own mind instead of having someone else make it up for them

Sorry, but I never like Bush. I've disliked him even more when it took him so long to do something about the people in New Orleans.
