I am a divorced and 43 years old. I can honestly say that I have never truly been loved by a man. I have been abused and used by so many because I think they saw that I had a low self-esteem. I have more confidence now and would like to know what true love is. How will I know when a man really loves me. I never saw my parents in love or show affection. I really would love to have affection and be respected. I love myself and my child, but I do not want to spend the rest of my life alone. I have a male companion that I have dated for 3 years. He doesn't want a committment right now because he has to find himself first. We date each other exclusively but I would love to have more. I just don't think he will ever recover from his second marriage which ended 4 years ago. I really love him and care for him. He is a wonderful guy but has a lot of issues. There is another guy interested in me. What should I do?

I think you already know the answer. Your companion now may never be ready for anything more than what you already have. Don't close other doors; try going out with this other guy and see what happens! You may miss out if you continue to wait on a maybe.

Love is shown by actions, by how much the other person puts YOUR interests/needs ahead of his own. Sounds like he is quite happy with what he has now and sees no need to offer you anything any different. It also seems that such a situation is not REALLY acceptable to you. It seems unlikely that he will change; he's had plenty of time to get over the second marriage. BTW; doesn't the fact that he's had two-strikes at the marriage game cause you to at least wonder why they didn't work out. Hard to believe that BOTH of those were the wife's fault.

Hopefully you enjoyed the last three years, since that is all you're llikely to have gotten for that investment of your time.

Move on.

- He loves you when he does not go to work when your sick just to take care of you.
- He loves you when he keeps quiet during an argument that he didnt even started in the first place.
- He still gets jealous even after long years of being together.
- He loves you when he lets you have the last bite for a food that he really love.
- He loves you when he spends all of his free time to be with you and no where else.

Do yourself a favor and see what the other guy has to offer. Your 'friend' may be lost forever, while you seem to have found yourself sooner than him. Don't limit yourself to these two, there may be someone else out here who truly wants a good woman to settle down with, just open your eyes and keep an open mind-----it could be the bagboy at your local grocery. Take care and good luck babe,
