When buying a camcorder, what's the spec that will tell you how good the resolution is of the picture?

Really there aren't any that will tell you exactly. However a spec like sensor resolution or ccd size will give you an idea. However even with this some cameras that have a higher size don't have a better image quality. Really the only way to tell is by reading a review and seeing image comparisons. Cnet ( http://www.cnet.com ) or Camcorder info ( http://www.camcorderinfo.com ) are both good places to find reviews. The only sure way to know if a camera is better quality is if it has 3ccds. Even then depending on model it might not be a sure thing.
