Who cares? I like all genres of music and I am happily rocking Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" on my CD player.

People are prisoners of stereotypes and labels and they don't even realize it. It's not a golden rule that says African-Americans must enjoy 3 basic genres of music: rap, R&B and blues. Music is for everyone.

It's the soul inside of us that enjoys the music - not the skin we're in.

If they seem offended it's probably because you sing the song better than the artist you're all listening to. Maybe you are mistaken them seeming offended to seeming astonished. They may think as most of my white friends do, that black people only know rap and gospel music and to know more than that is amazing to them.

It's not weird, it's ignorant. People get wrapped up in stereotypes and forget that all people are individuals. I'm white and don't care for country music. However, if you like, sing away and enjoy!!

We have come so far in race relations - yet there is so much farther to go.

Think of Opera singer, Marian Anderson - and Nat King Cole and Lena Horn and Charlie Pride and and and. It's sad that we white people think that only white people can have this kind of music - Just like Blacks who think Hip-hop is only for "them" emenem excepted - Sad.

Sigh. At least Ray Charles appeared on Hee Haw -

It's just something unique, as when you see a "soulful" white singer. But we were all made by the same God, and God makes us all individuals and gives all the gifts. If you like country, it's just that... you like country. Sing on girlfriend.!

Because country is more of a southern music, although I love it. And the south isn't really thought of having black people. Everyone stereotypes and think all black people listen to rap and do bad things.

Society sucks.

I don't think its wierd. Alot of black people are country. I guess its becuase you don't really see a black country singer but that shouldn't make it wierd.

If you like it then sing along!!! =)

you can like whatever you want.
I attend an almost all black school, and everyone there thinks I'm weird because I listen to rock music(or white people music, as they call it).
It's just wrong for people to look at you funny, but they aren't used to it.

i honestly think its because of unfair stereotypes. Usually black ppl are thought to like rap, hip pop and other loud music. I think most of the time its surprise that ppl feel. What about when white ppl listen to rap and hip pop, its the same thing. Tell them its what you like, whats the big deal?? :)
