No they did not join since this would violate their Christian conscience.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) passed a resolution that reaffirms the need for Armenia to comply with its commitments. Of particular interest to 68 imprisoned young men is the part of the resolution designed to protect the rights of those whose consciences will not allow them to participate in military service. The resolution confirms what Armenia has long ago agreed to and is still bound to uphold, namely their responsibility to release the young men imprisoned for conscientious objection, and to enact a genuine alternative civilian service.

The timing of the PACE resolution, passed on January 23, 2007, is significant since some prosecutors within Armenia have continued, even recently, to press for increasing the length of sentences for the young men who refuse military service, whereas Article 6.7 of the resolution clearly shows the need to go in a progressive direction:

As regards Armenia's commitment to adopt a law on alternative service "in compliance with European standards" and "pardon all conscientious objectors sentenced to prison terms", the Assembly is disappointed to note that the current law, as amended in 2005 and subsequently in June 2006, still does not offer conscientious objectors any guarantee of "genuine alternative service of a clearly civilian nature, which should be neither deterrent nor punitive in character", as provided for by Council of Europe standards. It is deeply concerned that, for lack of a genuine form of civilian service, dozens of conscientious objectors, most of whom are Jehovah's Witnesses, continue to be imprisoned, since they prefer prison to an alternative service not of a truly civilian nature. The Assembly urges the Armenian authorities to revise the law on alternative service in accordance with the recommendations made by the Council of Europe experts currently studying this issue and, in the meantime, to pard

The Assembly urges the Armenian authorities to revise the law on alternative service in accordance with the recommendations made by the Council of Europe experts currently studying this issue and, in the meantime, to pardon the young conscientious objectors currently serving prison sentences.

The majority of young men who are imprisoned for conscientious objection in Armenia are Jehovah’s Witnesses. Worldwide, the Witnesses are known for their emphasis on Jesus’ teaching to “love your neighbor.” (Matthew 22:39) Thus they have a reputation of being peaceful and law-abiding, with nonviolence as their code of conduct.

Because JWs do not go to war. JWs have always maintained strict neutrality as to fleshly warfare between nations, groups, or factions of any kind. (Joh 18:36; 1Co 5:1, 13; Eph 6:12)

“And it must occur in the final part of the days that the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, . . . and to it all the nations must stream. And many peoples will certainly go and say: ‘Come, you people, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will instruct us about his ways, and we will walk in his paths.’ For out of Zion law will go forth, and the word of Jehovah out of Jerusalem. And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.”—Isaiah 2:2-4.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are known worldwide for their individual conscientious stand of Christian neutrality. They have endured prisons, concentration camps, torture, deportations, and persecution, because they have refused to sacrifice their love and unity as a worldwide congregation of Christians drawn to God. However, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not interfere with the governments in their military programs. It stamps them as true followers of Christ and separates them from Christendom’s religions.—John 17:16; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.

By holding to the Bible and to the example of Christ, Jehovah’s Witnesses demonstrate they are practicing the worship of the true God, Jehovah. They recognize God’s love as reflected in the life and sacrifice of Jesus. They understand that true Christian love results in an indivisible worldwide brotherhood—above political, racial, and national divisions. In other words, Christianity is more than international; it is supranational, transcending national boundaries, authority, or interests. It views the human race as one family with a common progenitor and with a common Creator, Jehovah God.—Acts 17:24-28; Colossians 3:9-11.

While nearly all other religions have been involved in wars—fratricidal and homicidal—Jehovah’s Witnesses have shown that they take to heart the prophecy of Isaiah 2:4, quoted previously.

partly particular and this is a command from Jesus:- John 17:14 I truly have given your word to them, however the international has hated them, because of the fact they are no component to the international, purely as i'm no component to the international. John 17:15-sixteen I request you, to no longer take them out of the international, yet to observe over them as a results of wicked one. sixteen they are no component to the international, purely as i'm no component to the international.

Military service is mandatory in armenia
if people DON'T LIKE IT
GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY.
sheesh!
Mandatory military service is practiced in Israel, South Korea, Greece, Algeria, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Armenia, Switzerland, Turkey, Taiwan, Chile and Nicaragua. A look at the list includes several countries whose very existence is threatened by an unfriendly nation that borders their land.

Does Armenia have mandatory military service? If so, then there is no such thing as "concientious objection" in Armenia and these people are in violation of Armenia's laws.

You may accept any religion in Armenia, and worship anything you like. But it is a mandatory national law to serve for your country, no exceptions.

Every country has its own laws and regulations, when you live in a country you have to obey those rules, if you don't like it you are free to leave after serving the military. Or way before its time to go to army.

In many countries boys have to do military service, with any religion and beliefs, and if they refuse that, they will be imprisoned.
That's the rule and NATIONAL DUTY for everyone living in the country.

These people are no good for Armenia anyway, hopefully when they got free, they better live the country or obey the rules of it.

No doubt, Jehovah will do what is best for our brothers in Armenia. This has happened before in Germany during Hitlers rein. Some died, some survived. Those that died did so being faithful to Jehovah God and have the resurrection. Those that make it through this time will also be blessed. My prayers go out to them to hold fast to their faith in Jehovah.

Maybe they deserved it, because Armenian Government is fair and jehovah's witness are nothing but annoying organization created by a group of Jews to make real Christianity split, they are not successful so far, and I hope they will get out of Armenia (all of them soon).
Amen

Did they join any form of military?

If so they SWORE to fight for America.

Since there's no draft why would a conscientious objector join in the first place?

Odd how many people discover their CO status when they are at risk of being involved in a war.

The brave CO is anti war whether they're at risk or not. If you're going to stand for something then stand for it all the time.

Edit:
LOL! Armenia? I doubt they care about our opinions, and I think there are bigger fish to fry on the human rights front. Wish I could help them, but if we don't lower the green house gas emissions absolutely no one gets to live.
