because it looks nicer...

not everyone takes marriage as its old tradition. some get married as nothing more than a statement to the world that they want to spend their lives together. others do it for tax breaks or whatever.

*shrug* some do it for money.

The white dress was never intended to display virginity, that's a more recent interpretation and one that has been ingrained into our culture and many others. Actually the color blue traditionally symbolized purity. The use of a white dress was made fashionable in the 1800's by Queen Victoria and because of that many women followed her lead. Before that brides wore whatever color they chose.

Even the uptight Victorian regime didn't elect to make a bride's choice of clothing an indicator of purity. Wow, you're less open minded than the Victorians.

There's a lot of wedding traditions we do that used to have different meanings, but today are just traditions. Like, lifting the veil over the girl's face used to symbolize breaking the hymen. But today it doesn't mean that at all. Just like wearing white might have been a way to show the bride's purity, today it is just a tradition that every bride wears white. It has nothing to do with if she's a virgin or not.

In the middle eastern nations women have to be virgin. It is the Islamic law. They have no choice. Now plastic surgery fixed a lot of problems for most of the women there. They have plastic surgery and become virgin again.

True Christians stay virgin (boys /girls).

I think we stopped wearing white to prove our purity around the same time we stopped marking women with a big red letter on their chests to show they'd lost their virginity...

People fornicate. Its a sin but not an unforgiveable one. God knows we are weak...why do you think He grieved when He put us in the flesh?

Tradition. Actually, Monica is pretty much dead-on.

Your "further question" is most garbled, but if you're asking which religion sees the most non-virgins getting married, I'll wager it's Christianity.

The idea that women should not be sexual at all is just a sexist relic of ancient times, when women were property (and virginal property fetched a higher price when the woman's father sold her to her husband).

Brides should wear whatever they want. Their sexuality is no one's business.

There is a difference to be made between a legitimate question and simple bitching. I refer you to Y/A Community guidelines: Do not use Y/A as a soap box to vent your frustrations.

Why would anyone want to marry a virgin?

Oh, please. There's no reason a bride has to proclaim the state of her virginity on her clothes.
