Small dogs usually have 1-2 and in some cases three.
You should feel good now momma can give all the nutrients to the one to grow up strong. Please spay and neuter soon. Its hard on toy breeds to give birth and there are plenty already out here.

I work at the veterinary clinic, and i havent seen many cases like this, but it is common that a chihuahua will have only one or two puppies. If the chihuahua is a regular sized chihuahua and not a teacup or miniature, i would imagine there are better odds of the labor and pregnancy going smoothly.
Good luck! if you do indeed have a pregnant chihuahua...

Well, from what i've learned small dogs have 1-2 puppies.
So i'm sure for the most part it would go smoothly for a chihuahua.
There may be a complication, but there could be with any breed, any litter, so it doesnt really matter.
if you are going to breed chihuahuas, i wish you luck!

We had a long-haried chihuahua that gave birth to 1 puppy. The puppy was fine-no complications. Cute as a button too!

They usally have very small litters, but since she only had one, she can supply a good amount of milk for her pups, I have never owned a chihuahua but hear they are very good mothers.
Give your mama lots of healthy food and lots of freash water, she should have a comphy spot to lie down and birth her pups.

Not personally- but my aunt did- the pup was huge for the breed and the mom needed a c-section- all ended up well, and both lived long happy lives.
