Frank! are you using this page to judge what people should ask?
Or are you just bored? Don´t need to be philosophical about this simple question. Yes, there are good Turks out there.

As a foreigner who has lived amongst Turks for some time, I've come to appreciate what you might call as "virtues". I could say that in most cases, the Turks I have interacted with were:

1. Religious - I like it when they strike a balance between being themselves and being spiritual. They don't shove religion down your throat as we say it.

2. Hospitable - Neighbors bringing me food (all kinds of them) until wee hours in the morning. Don't ask about how long they stay.

3. Thoughtful - So far it's the only race I know that doesn't forget me even if I've met them for a short period of time. Turks I've met on my first tour in 2002 are still in touch with me and even sent me this big nazar when I transferred to a new home.

4. Over-extending - Since we women are more independent these days, most of the men :) are so hard to get rid off ^_^ (in a good way) especially when they insist on helping you. At some occasions I've had strangers wanting to help me carry some bags I had in my hands. (Initially wanted to call the police ^_^) or do errands for me. There even was this sweet old Turk who drove a taxi and after a couple of times (days) of driving me about, he refused payment soon afterwards. He was so sweet to even give me those preserves his wife made.

5. Patient - has a well of patience especially when it comes to Western women and their faux pas. How they explain certain things, how they teach you things.

Of course I've noticed some negative traits as well but doesn't any race have them? All I can say is that despite having travelled to lots of places, I've always wanted to come back to folks like these where I've felt the most at home.

The distinction of "bad" or "good" Turks is unfortunate because it claims knowledge of an absolute truth about what it is to be human. By definition such a claim is dangerous. It leads to immoral decision-making and excludes new insights into what it is to be human. For your info, several European and other nations have suffered in the name of "good" and "bad" citizens. It starts as innocently as your question and goes into patriots and traitors, them and us and so on...

How does actually a "good" Turk differ from a "good" man? Is there a good Turk that is a bad man? The other way around?

Edit: Murat, you completely missed my point. And definitely you may ask whatever you wish. You run the show, you choice. So lets go on with the virtues of the good Turks...
