Wow,
That must be the reason!

Cars have gotten safer too, and space exploration has taken leaps and bounds.

It's just as logical as the claptrap about crime.

Edit:
It is incredible how many people are totally missing your point. Talk about blinkered.

Considering that I can run a simulation program I wrote in just half an hour on my computer (using only one processor, to boot), and my labmate's computer takes twice that long while using all of its resources, and my home computer can't even install a decent compiler, I have no reason to doubt Moore's Law.

Science education, by the way, actually has gotten better since schools stopped teaching creationism.

Than how come the overall national tests put us lower then Korea,Japan and other European & Asian countries?
Having God in or out of the schools effects the moral conduct/ethics of the students & teachers. When I was in school it would never have occurred to a teacher to date one of their students--they weren't that stupid. If there was that going on--they sure did not broadcast it because they knew that it was inappropriate.
Plus most kids were respectful of the authority of the teacher & school administration. If I had a problem with a teacher I could tell my parents and they would talk to the principal and try to resolve the problem
But than parents paid more attention to what their kids did and disciplined them if needed.

Considering that each time free-thinkers are able to flourish unchecked by religion cultural, technological and philosophical advances are made, no... it really doesn't.

Remember the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, as well as pre-christian Greece and Rome. All were marked by great discoveries made by freethinkers. Unfortunately, all were also killed by religious takeovers. History repeats itself, and we need to be careful to stem the tide of religious uproar.

Ever since the evangelicals tried to take them back over; we're losing our engineering and technology industry to Asia.

On a more serious note, I think censorship has increased dramatically.

"And also, violence, rape, murder and gangs in schools, congratulations." Wrong, all violent crime has been on the decrease in recent years, don't believe all the crap you see on Oprah, especially when Bill Gates says it.

Hehe...correlation is not the same as causality, though. The change would probably have been fairly similar even if schools were still based on religion.
