I guess its like any deity, manifesting itself. It is in the eye of the beholder. You may have seen The Morrigan, or Thor, or Cerridwen in a meditation, or in a dream, but who's to say what you percieve as them is what everyone else sees?
I think people see what they want too, when they need too. The true picture of any deity is how you conduct your life, and how you honour them. That is a true portrait of your gods or goddesses.

Many people have an idea what Jesus looks like from artworks, etc.
So? It isn't a true depiction of Jesus Christ on the piece of toast or in the tree, etc.
But, I got a special blessing last Christmas during the blackout. The candle wax drippings formed the Mother Mary holding baby Jesus and the wise man bowing holding a gift behind them. I thought that was from God. And, it didn't really depict how they looked in facial features. Just a figure of this.

The only possibility: the Shroud of Turin. Seems almost certainly to be a fake to me. Even if it isn't, we cannot determine from that image hair, skin or eye color.
People don't know it's him. They *want* to believe it's him.
To my mind, this is a form of idol worship.

P.S. Blond hair and blue eyes? I can't recall any such picture! All the traditional ones are based on Italian nobility, and he is usually shown with brown hair.

They do not know what Jesus looked like.
I do not believe any of those alleged sightings or whatever.
It is not Biblical so it is suspect.
Almighty God and Jesus Christ NEVER showed themselves
to people that way. Almighty God says, "I change not."
Jesus Christ appeared to people after His ascension into Heaven and He always appeared as Himself.

To very superstitious people, any suggestion of a human form is the bark of a tree, in the branch and leaf arrangements, the grain of broken rock, oil slick on windows, cloud formations, beach sand, are all holies.
The superstitious imagination is a wonderful thing. it can make anything out of anything.
The faintest female looking form has to be Mary, all male forms have to be Jesus.

friends of mine once claimed to have eaten the 'turin breakfast' where the face of 'the lord' wad revealed in baked beans and egg.
they knew it was 'the res' from the feeling they got - how can one mistake benevolence of such magnitude smiling up from your plate- being touched by his gaze is akin to touching the hem of his garb.and that's just how they felt after eating the turin breakfast. totally satiated!
We have an article in our newletter about the 'turin breakfast' with photgraphic evidience!
