I am extremely open minded, BUT I do believe in Him.
My husband on the other hand, does not...I have no idea how long he has felt this way.

My wife never missed a Sunday church service, even though she had to walk three miles and back as a little girl, and in all kinds of weather.
Long before we were married, she understood that I was a one hundred percent non-believer. I encouraged her to continue going to church if it was what she wanted. She did for many years, but little by little she would say. " How can possibly be as the church preaches "?
She made sure that our two kids were not filled with Medieval superstitions. They are totally nature believers. All the rewards for clean living must come right here on this earth. We all believe that when we die, we'll become part of nature just as we were in the distant past. We accept that nd have no fear of it.

It would be a surprise since he probably told you that he believed in God when you got together but I would do nothing and just let me believe what he belives (or doesn't believe). He is still the same person, just a different believe than you thought he had. It probably came as a surprise to him too.

wonder at what he has gone through in his life to make him come to that belief. I'm sure its pretty rare for a little child to come to that realization upon there own. Usually something happens that causes people to doubt God's existence. Although if he's your spouse and its only just been brought up: hopefully its not that big of a deal. I certainly understand where your coming from in that being surprising... I would be too!

The world is made up of many cultures, colors, religious beliefs...but at the end of the day, Creator doesnt see me any different than he see's the trees, we are all the same. I believe that as long as we do the best we can as people, then that's all that should really matter. We cannot be defined as good or bad based on our religious or none religious beliefs. We are all one people.

For example: can a car create itself other than in "Transformers" ? Man created cars....so how a bout something very complicated as human body that people still after millions of years don't know all of it's secrets be created by chance or by itself? I know even a fifth grader knows that but for some reason your husband doesn't!!

i suppose that as my spouse, i would have known him well enough prior to marriage to have some sort of inkling as to his spiritual beliefs. If my husband told me that out of the blue, I suppose I would ask him why he feels that way. I don't think it would change how I felt about him, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. you know, the whole 'free will' thing?

Hmmm, that sounds like a small little detail that you should have known before you got married.

I dunno, is he going through a phase? Like having a lot of bad luck so he is just mad at God right now? Or is this something that he has always believed.

One thing is for sure, if you plan on having children, you better have a talk and come to an agreement on how you want them raised.....with or without church, beliefs, etc.

Maybe you should have discussed these things before marriage, but whatever. I feel as though religion does not need to play a huge role in a relationship. As long as the sex is good, you enjoy being with each other, and you are faithful, why should everything hinge around his beliefs?

The converstaion should have begun twenty year ago. Unless, there has been a major life change that believe does not usually change during adulthood.
