It seems that what you are looking for is "Heaven on Earth", a planet free of all pain and trouble. This is not possible, because of Adam's sin, which has put a curse upon all of us, from the tiniest pre-born to the oldest man. This is not God's fault, but ours.
Adam and Eve's sin drove God away from them, and thus from this planet. God used to live and walk here among us, with our First Parents, but sin is like Kryptonite to God. He cannot be anywhere near it. So when Adam and Eve sinned, it drove God away, and He took his sustaining presence with Him. It is His physical presence that prevents things like pain, suffering, aging, sickness and death.
We must keep in mind that these afflictions and atrocities that we suffer from birth are the result of a world gone mad, not because God "likes" watching us suffer. Our God is a God of love! You may ask, "Why doesn't God do anything about it?" The answer is, "He already did." Two thousand years ago, He sent His Son to die the death that we all deserve, and pay our debt of sin. Satan has been defeated, and he knows his time is short. Soon Christ will return, just as He promised, and destroy sin and unrepentant sinners and bring an end to suffering, pain and misery forever. Children who were once afflicted at birth will now have perfect physical bodies, completely free from blemish. They will not be ghosts, but have real bodies and do real activities. Those who have trusted God over the millennia will be resurrected into these perfect bodies, and rewarded for what they have suffered here on Earth. The things we have suffered here will seem trivial in comparison to our Heavenly reward. We will soon forget the pain of our old life here. God will re-create the Earth the way it was in the Beginning before Adam and Eve sinned, beautiful and undamaged. The Saved of all time will be happily enjoying this new planet (and the rest of the universe) for eternity.
This knowledge makes it easier for those who are suffering to make it through.
Here is another point to ponder - how does a lack of pain or suffering improve our character? If we are pain-free, then we never learn anything, do we? This sin-sick world is a testing ground for us. Make the best of it.

People are stupid. God doesn't care about one person more than another. There has to be illness and disease and death and murderers and peaceful people and floods that kill people and tornadoes and hurricanes that displace millions because that is just the way it is.

It goes to show that God, if God exists or if God is a conscious entity, is indifferent.

Do we live in a dual universe? Good/Bad, Healthy/Unhealthy, Truth/Lie. Imperfection/Perfection.

The only thing I am sure of is that I know nothing at all. But I am not going to seek a religion or an answer, dammit.

The majority of the time a child is born with a birth defect it is something that a)the mother did while she was carrying or smethimes even before. or b)the doctors neglected to inform the mother of an "issue" with the baby while in the womb that could have been prevented...

God is a good God! He can turn all things (even a birth defect) into good!!!!

They'll prob tell u "'god had a plan'' or ''he works in mysterious ways"'...what a disgusting plan to cause children to suffer like that.

I wonder how it is ''man's'' fault that children are BORN with physical or mental disabilities. And yeah...let's all improve our characters with children as a bait, why dont we?Because isnt that one of the reasons..so that we can learn from our pain of having sufferring children?

Have you asked anyone who believes in God and who has to live with something that most in life don't have to live with what they think?

Do you know anyone who has to live with something that most in life don't have to live with?

When you say "our" God, do you mean God, or the hypothetical God that Atheists refer to?

Have you faced your sin, because we all sin, and realized that if there is a God that we don't deserve to be in his presence, and that if he is a pure and holy God, then we deserve hell?

Do you know that God came to earth in the form of the man Jesus, to pay for our sin so that we can be in his presence, so that we can have eternal life and not suffer the torment of the hell that is more than just an extension of what we face on earth?

Something to think about, while you're considering the answers to your question.

The same thing can be asked about abortion. Atrocities against children? There is NO greater atrocity against children than to kill millions of them every year before they're even born.

I'd say that God doesn't allow the bad things that you mention to happen. I'd say that we do.

coffee and Julia said it!!! man is the reason why we suffer. it's like pushing someone down the stairs and then say "God made me do it"...if people took responsibility for their sin's we wouldn't be in this problem.

If everyone were healthy and wise and without troubles no one would be able to understand Good. The universe must have evil so that good can be recognized.
