I think whoever said this doesn't know a lot of Atheists. While I'm not an Atheist myself, I do have friends and family members that are. I can say quite clearly that those who are Atheists that I know have all done their own amount of searching and questioning and come to the conclusion that draws them to be an Atheist. Some of the ones I know are Soft Atheists and others are Hard Atheists (A soft Atheist is someone who doesn't believe in God or some supernatural being, but is still open to possibilities about some uniformed justice system in the cosmos or atleast is warm to some philosophical concepts held within some religions most especially those that relate to living with others, enviroment, etc. A hard Atheist is described by scholars as someone who doesn't believe in God and rejects all aspects of all religions and often tries to convert others to Atheism)....though mostly I know what scholars describe as soft Atheists (not sure why they use the term soft and hard, but anyways). Most of the Atheists I know accept the idea that we should be loving and caring and show compassion for others. That we should strive towards social justice, equality, respect for the enviroment and other life, etc. And many are very involved in organizations that do these things. So while they may not be attending church or a house of worship once or more a week, they are taking the same amount of time and working in organizations that strive towards things that they value, too. Though their own spiritual and religious beliefs are not the foundation of such actions, they do still hold philosophical ideas and ideals about how we should live. Usually I find the only major differences between those that practice a religion and those that are Atheists and Agnostics is simply the God equation. Atheists and Agnostics are still moved to show love and compassion and show charity, etc....their motivations are not directed through a belief in God, but usually in a universal sense of humanity and a sense that what they strive to do to help humanity is right, not because God tells them it is right, but because they can clearly see, understand, and logically conclude that it is right (they see the big picture despite not believing in God).
That's my own humble opinion, though.
Peace be with you

If I'm reading this correctly, we believe the media before God's teachings, simply because it's easier to turn on the television than drive to Church every Sunday.
I firmly believe that anyone who honestly believes that, needs to open their eyes, open their mind, and look a little deeper into Atheism than what THEY heard on the tele.
I'm an Atheist and I don't follow the media by thinking "Oh man, they told me to hate Christians.. so I should probably hate them and stop believing in God." For starters, I don't watch enough television to be influenced to a point where I just "don't believe".
I'd next like to point out that I grew up without believing in God. My father was a Christian and my Mother was a Catholic, but they both decided to let me grow up without thier influence. I was taught moral guidance, I was shown who God was and what he did.
I've actually, even read the bible! However, my parents wanted me to go in my own direction and become who I was meant to become, instead of someone I wasn't.

It sounds like someone has no idea what atheists are all about. Most Atheists I have met are far from lazy. They are regularly standing up for their beliefs against statements like this. I don't believe you need religion in order to know what love is about. But I'm also guessing that this person is not a Pagan as we don't feel that you need to see things the way we do.
I am not an atheist, but I respect your beliefs and do not agree with this statement.

Hmmm.
Are atheists too lazy to worship? Or too lazy to believe that there is a God?
Just remember, brainwashing can be done by anyone to anyone, even the "almighty" media.

1.) How many supposed "Christians" go to church more than twice a year (Christmas & Easter)?
2.) Who exactly makes up "the media"? Presumably, they're a representative sampling of the population, which makes most of them Christians themselves -- so who exactly are they spreading "lies" about or "brainwashing"?
3.) Most theists are too intellectually lazy to consider even the POSSIBILITY that someone might examine the same evidence for a Creator that they did, but come to a different conclusion (i.e.; that there isn't one).

I love that the ever mysterious media is to blame for everything. This is the same media that had a debate about the morality of atheists without an atheist present.

Truly showing "love" for other people is altruism, which this statement of theirs is not. Their statement is divisive and looks like they're missing some understanding about atheism on some level. May they find altruism, wisdom and compassion, and refrain from divisive speech in the future, and gain happiness.

Most people who make blanket statements about Atheists are too lazy to get to know any actual Atheists.

Obviously the speaker needs to *listen* to whoever's TELLING SOMEONE TO SHOW LOVE FOR OTHER PEOPLE.
