Dharmic religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism) all believe in reincarnation. Thus any heavenly states of existance are merely states of existence between incarnations. Their ultimate goal is not heaven it is moksha, mukti, or nirvana. Moksha means liberation, mukti means freedom, and nirvana means extinquish (all from Sanskrit). All strive to be set free from the samsara....the cycle of birth and death. For Hindus and Sikhs that means merging into the very presence of God. For Jains and Buddhists that usually means entering into a place of pure peace.
Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Baha'i) do not believe in reincarnation. Their goal is heaven.
I cannot say much about what humanists believe as I believe this varies very much upon the individual.

Hindus and Buddhists view it as taking rebirth according to your karma and state of mind at death.

Humanists - NO life after death ( that'd make 'death' an oxymoron, wouldn't it? )
It's 'Death after Life' not 'Life after Death'... DEAD is DEAD!
ALL PEOPLES... ROT... or ... Burn, Urn and Scatter.
