A lady wants me to adopt her baby and I am worried that me living at my sister's house won't count. Does anyone know? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Thanks.

Private or not you still have to have a home study!!! You all still have to have a back ground check finger prints and whatever your state requires. Dose your sisters place have enough room are you going to be able to afford this little one? Are you doing it through lawyers? You really need to talk to a Lawyer make sure it is all by the book....careful and good luck.

I don't think that will be a problem since the adoption is private
but what about your sister will she be OK with you living in your house with a child
before you ask anyone about this situation you should talk to your sister and the only thing I know that you will need is a separate bedroom for the child as long as you can provide that I don't think you should have a problem

Your sister will also have to have a back ground check completed. Anyone over the age of 18 will require fingerprinting and back ground check even if they are not going to do the adoption. If they live in the house with you and your child to be, they will have to undergo the same scrutiny as you.

Something else to keep in mind. As some one else posted, it will also depend on the reasons you are living with your sister. Is it a "roommate" situation? The child would need it's own space as well.

I would check with an adoption attorney to be sure.

It might depend more on your finances. If your living at your sisters because youre broke, have no way to earn money/job skills, vs renting or caring for her house.
