DO NOT TELL THEM!!!! If you do what your religion is forbidden to do, you basically have sinned, and since you have already told them you are catholic, do not tell them. What you can do is talk to the person who put you in the school. Try to get a transfer if you can.

First you do not have to be a Catholic to attend a Catholic school.

At the Last Supper, Jesus said, “Take this bread. It is my body.” The he said, “Take this and drink. This is my blood. Do this in memory of me.”

Catholics believe this was the First Eucharist, that through some miracle the bread and wine actually became the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Catholics reenact the Last Supper during every Mass, where the priest, acting in place of Christ, changes the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

This is a great sacrament of thanksgiving and unity of Catholics.

Anyone who does not believe in the actual presence of Christ and is not united with the Catholic faith is asked, out of respect, not to receive the Eucharist.

Catholics, out of respect for other Christian faiths, do not receive Communion in non-Catholic churches.

We pray that one day Christian unity will succeed and we will all be called to the same table.

I suggest that you stop
+ Receiving the Eucharist
+ Pretending to be what you are not
+ Lying to your friends

This may be hard for a little while but then everything will be much better.

With love and prayers in Christ.

If you're Coptic Orthodox, you can receive Communion from a Catholic priest.

If you don't feel it's right to touch the Body with your hands, you can have it given to you on your tongue.

You're a member of an eastern Orthodox Church (the Vatican calls them "oriental churches"), meaning that you are as close to being a Catholic as you can get without actually being one.

So, as far as receiving Communion, attending Mass, going to Confession, etc., you don't have to pretend to be Catholic. Coptic Orthodox people are permitted to receive these sacraments in the Catholic Church.

Whatever you are doing, you already know the answer. First of all, you do not play with God. You need to IMMEDIATELY withdraw from the situation by declaring that you are not Catholic. If you still enjoy and desire the instruction involved therein, that's alright. I would never pretend to have a "faith" that does not exist. I, too, went to Catholic school and was not Catholic. Believe me, I told everyone when I entered there that I am simply and totally who you see. I NEVER pretended to be Catholic. I did not mock the faith, but I just wasn't Catholic. Do what you feel is correct in the eyes of God. Otherwise, God will reckon with you. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things - If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. Also, The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah - Psalm 68:19. Peace and God Bless.

It is very difficult to be a non-Catholic in a Catholic school. I can understand why you would want to fit in. The taking of the communion is not a problem. My understanding is that a papal edict under Pope John Paul indicated that no one could be turned away who seeks the body of Christ.

If your faith does not permit you to touch the body, then you should know that Catholics are still allowed to receive communion by having the wafer placed on the tongue. This would relieve your own religious concern.

The bigger problem is that the stress of being dishonest is going to grow. You are making friendships where you are not being completely honest with your friends. As this continues, the friendships will become strained and difficult.

I recommend that you discuss this with the principal of the school. He/she can help you know what is right and wrong regarding the sacrament. My guess is they may already know. When your parents filled out your papers they probably listed your faith.

Lastly, I would recommend that you tell your friends that you were afraid they would not like you if you told the truth. But now that you know them, you know they are not like that and that you want to be honest with them.

You don't have to be Catholic to attend Catholic school. If you are religious in your religion of birth, you probably should not touch the body of Christ. This is a discussion that you should have with your parents, but it is a personal choice that is up to you.

I would advise, no longer taking the body of Christ, but if you wish to continue in mass and not discussing your choice with your friends...that's your right.

You did not have to lie to go to Catholic school. You should have been honest in the first place. And it is wrong in both religions to take Communion. You need to go to a teacher that you can trust and explain yourself, maybe you could offer to do some community contributions as an apology.

I'd stop pretending. In fact you probably should have been honest from the start. I know there are non-Catholic kids who go to Catholic schools. Also, if you are doing something that goes against your church, you really should stop.

I don't know that it's wrong to "pretend" if you are fitting in.

But you shouldn't be receiving Eucharist if you are not Catholic.

When you go up for Eucharist, cross your hands over your chest and receive a blessing but do not receive the Body of Christ.

it is very wrong to pretend somebody you are not your friends will lost trust in you when they come to know who you really are i am christian and according to the bible before taking communion you should set your mind straight with God communion in Christianity is a very important act bread without yeast stands for the body of Christ and the red wine stands for the blood of Christ we take communion as a remembrance of Christ

It makes a difference if you're Orthodox. If you were Protestant, they'd probably be really, really mad if they found out, but they're generally more accepting of the Orthodox, since they share belief in transubstantiation (though they call it something else, and they don't describe it in scholastic/Thomistic terms). Technically, though, they want you to get permission first.
