Ok to all the mothers out there how old was your daughter when she was allowed to wear a thong?

I'm wondering.

I want to wear a thong and I told her and hse looked at me. I'm 16 always made good grades and have always behaved.

i just want them for some of my clothes i wear a lot of skirts and dress pants and im so tired of granny panties showing or bulging thats the only reason not to be sexy

well if you keep that back thang clean you wont have to worry about it

My oldest is 10, and I can guarantee you she won't be wearing thongs for another 8 years (then I have no control what she does, lol)

Well I am not a mother but I won't be letting any of my daughters wear a thong. I personally feel that thongs on a young girl are nothing more then a way to attract bad attention to her and cause her to send the wrong message to boys. Plus a thong in my opinion is a sexual and degrading object that degrades women and no girl needs to be seen like a dog. She should be respected as a human being and not sexuality from a young age.

Well, for me it was much different. My mom wore thongs before they were even something that young girls wore- like when only strippers wore them LOL She wasn't a stripper, but she was a cop and had a uniform that showed ALL panty lines no matter what and she hated it. She bought a pair one day and hasn't worn anything since. I was around 12 when I got my first pair & that was because SHE wanted me to, I was going to a school dance with a dress that would show my panty lines. Since then, that is all *I* will wear now. I would say though that if you are responsible and everything, it doesn't matter what kind of underwear you wear- thongs don't automatically make you a slut. Some girls who sleep around wear granny panties or boy shorts, thongs are just like a bra- do you wear bras with lace or pretty designs on them? If so, do you buy the prettier bra so other people can see it? No. Well, then thongs are just for function like a pretty bra is for function. I wore them since I was 12 and I am NO WHERE near the type of girl who sleeps around and neither are some of my friends who wear them. Did that make any sense? LOL Anyway, my answer is 16 is old enough to wear one.

I dont understand those things!! SO annoying, such a pain to wear.
I understand that they look a hell of a lot better under dress pants etc, but the shear torment of wearing one makes it hard for me to even think of attempting it!

I would have to say you should be allowed to try wearing one at 16, see what you think and make your own decision in regards to this. It really is trivial, but i think your parents just dont want the thong to lead to other things- they dont wanna confront the fact that your growing up.

I have an infant daughter but I'd say around 15 or 16. I don't see them as a sexual thing. I wear them more for the lack of panty line and comfort. (Wearing regular panties makes me feel like I have a diaper on) Unfortunately though, you need to abide by your parent's rules so if mom says no, then it's no. Sorry.

I wore my first thong when I was 17, I had my own job and that's when my mom didn't mind. But I only could wear them under things that required a thong!

16 is a very reasonable age -- you're old enough to be making many of your own decisions, and to be earning your own money.

If your mother's not comfortable with the idea, try a cute bikini or hipster fit, and console yourself with the knowledge that in two years you'll probably be moving out or going to college and you'll be able to make decisions like this completely independently.

You know what, I think I was about 16/17 too when I wore my first thong.

Now I am 28, and I ditched them 3 yrs when I was pregnant and never looked again coz they really are soooo uncomfortable.

Try smaller panties, not those awful granny ones. Like a slim hipster type and then try to reduce it from there??

My fiance's mother is extremely "old school". She had to (at 20) hide thongs in her drawer and do the laundry when her mom was not home because her mom found a black thong once that she wore with pants that show lines, and her mom FREAKED!

So in essence she has never been 'allowed'. We see some family members (kids @ 12) wearing them at family functions and it's very trashy if they show at that age.
