Have you ever had a situation where you needed to make a decision. And everything logical pointed to going in one direction. However you had nagging doubts about going that route?

If you followed the logical decision, did it turn out to be the right or wrong one?

Or, have you ever listened to those doubts and disregarded the logical decision and made a decision that made no sense at all? What happened?

Specifically, I'm looking for stories of when you faced this decision and what happened. Thanks!

Yes, it has. I was about to get married in 1990 when word of my dad dying the night before made me choose to postpone the wedding until later in the fall. Logical choice right? So, right after Iraq invaded Kuwait, we had to scramble and push the date back to the middle of August, because my wife's bridesmaid and I were on 24-hour standby to deploy to the Persian Gulf (she went, I deployed a year later). After many years of non-harmonious marriage we finally separated in March. Was it inevitable? Who knows. Did I miss the sign to call it off when my dad died in a car accident? Again, who knows. A lot of things cannot be explained. One thing I know for sure though, logical decisions are not necessarily the right ones all the time.

If by "logical" you mean "safe", then I would have to point out that the safe course of action is not always the best course of action. One has to take calculated risks if one is to get anywhere in life, since a purely "logical" decision requires perfect knowledge (something that we will always lack).

There have been plenty of times in my life when a different, equally logical choice would have better suited the situation.

Logic incorporates so much more than robotic thinking. To my knowledge, it has never failed me, at least not in a way that I would consider failure. I do not regret my choices...

It has happened once, when I supposed that certain people would behave rationally, and they didn't.
