That's a deep question.

The answer depends on the following question:

Is the universe imperfect for man or for God?

not necessarily, though some may see it that way. Man made the universe imperfect because of original sin, but the Divine intervention can set things back to the way things should be. However, that does not mean that He WILL intervene because as the old saying goes, you made your bed now lie in it.
If He were to fix all our problems with a wave of His hand, then how much more would we screw it up next time?
the same theory as to why parents, who love their children very much will not bail the same child out of jail if they screw up. Children (of humans and God) need to learn that WE are responsible for our own actions, not God and not the "devil"

Yes. And so does the believed need for redemption of mankind. God just can't seem to get anything right.

Or it could imply that imperfection entered the world through man's sin.

The universe, as originally created was perfect and good. Sin brought in the imperfections. If you can prove that God's original creation was anything but perfect, please do.
