This problems started when he was wetting the bed, and also wetting his pants when he was watching TV, playing video games, or playing something else. I was tired of washing so much cloth and sheets, that I bought some of those new size 7 baby diapers and made him wear them to bed, and sometimes at home. But now it's got to a point where he just doesn't care, he just goes in the diaper, he doesn't care if I change him, and he doesn't care about wearing it all day.. outside too, it's like he's a baby again
Did I do something wrong? what can I do to get him out of the diapers!?

Ok, first I am appalled that you allowed your son to get away with being so lazy that while he is playing video games he will wet his pants. I mean come on.
Second, what in God's name made you put him in diapers at the age of 12 years? That is rediculous. Wetting the bed at night at that age might have been a MEDICAL issue and by you not giving him that medical attention you have made the issue worse and by enabling him by letting him wear a DIAPER at home you are making him believe that strange **** is ok.
HE IS 12 YEARS OLD!
That boy should be washing his own clothes, using the bathroom, washing his own ***, at least know how to cook one meal for himself etc.
Now if you had a typo and he is 12 months old, that is a normal situation for a baby.
But damn girl, 12 years is too old for you to be going through this with him. You need to take them diapers and everytime he messes his pants make him sit in it. Make him wash his own clothes and stop treating him like a damn baby.
Diapers at age 12. You got to be kidding. I swear, that is why our children are growing up to be crazy now....

That is crazy you let your child go 12 years wearing a diaper how can you as a mother find this normal past 5years old(thats pushed the line already)
Maybe your son has a medical blatter problem (i mean if you watch tv or looked up some information on blatter control you would know this also) You need to take him to a doctor to find out whats wrong with his kidney system because when you reach 12 your body and physcology you realize thats not right you also need to take him to therepy because know your child could be physcology behind that fact that he doesn't care anymore should tell thats more than being a male(also check into his social life...see why he doesn't care and trauma has occured)
You really need to take him to get help no matter how hard this is. Truthfully i hope this is a typo or a joke but if it is not you are blessed no-one has called cps on you.

The more that babies grow, the more they get used to diapers and find themselves relaxed even when it is not night.
This will make them lazy and so it should not be carried out. They should get used that when they feel that they want to empty their bladder they will tell you to take them to the toilet and not finding it easy that they have the diapers. As a mother you should potty train the baby after some months. Okay you continue to put it at night but during the day they should be warned that when they feel anything they should tell you. This would be training their bladder nerve to make them aware of it and so would know when it is the time to empty it.
The longer you keep the baby in diapers the harder it would become to let go of it. If he then have the problem that he doesn't feel anything it is good to speak to your doctor who can tell you what to do.
Remember now that it is already after you have to be cruel to be kind.

I dont think it is neccesarily something you did, but if he was wetting the bed at 12, and now wants to wear diapers, there could very well be a medical problem. I wouldn't let him wear diapers when he is home, and i sure as hell wouldn't be changing him, he can do that himself!
It could be a cry for attention, though. Did you recently divorce, have a death/birth in the family? sometimes unusual circumstances cause things like this.

It sounds to me like you enjoy him being your baby again or you wouldn't be the one changing him all the time, you would make him change himself. Is this the case? If it is, that's why we continues to use them because you don't really want him to stop and why should he if he is getting so much attention from you when you change his diaper. That's a normal human reaction.
First of all, you should have taken him to a doctor to rule out any medical conditions that are causing him to wet himself.
Secondly you need to stop changing him and make him do it himself.
Thirdly you should stop buying the diapers for him and if he likes it that much he can buy them himself and change himself. You are conditioning him to grow up as and AB (adult baby) or a DL (diaper lover), two very common fetishes mostly in males.
I know I wouldn't mind having someone change my diaper all the time and give me that kind of attention but I don't have that. I'm incontinent and have to wear diapers 24 / 7 and I have to change my own and buy my own. I'm married and have a loving wife but that's even something she won't do for me.
Good luck.

Ashley,
PLEASE listen to the advice of all of the people above, and take your son to see a doctor.
I understand being a young mother must be very difficult, I understand you were 14 when you had him? You are trying to do right by your son, but in your intent to help him, you are making this worse.
Now, a 12 yr old who has recently started bed wetting has done this for a reason.
What this reason is, has to be discovered, so that it can be overcome.
The videogames are such an engrossing pastime, that he is going into his own little world and ignoring the need to toilet, and by wearing his huggies he doesn't need to bother coz you are cleaning him up!
Is there a reason why you cannot take him to see a specialist? If you don't have health insurance, can you get medicare?
DO NOT humiliate him infront of his friends. This added teasing will isolate him and make things worse.
Drag him to the doctors right now!

I would take him to the Dr's and see what is going on. that just does not seem normal behavior for a 12 y/o. Get him out of the diapers and make him wear underwear. If he wets them then make him wash his clothes and sheets. Is this just pee or poop too? Has anything changed in the house? Divorce or death? I would ask him about sexual abuse too, he is regressing for some reason. Best of luck

KEEP HIM IN DIAPERS!! Okay, I just did a search on the net and looked up ab/dl like suggested. Your son has a diaper fetish. If it were me, I would keep him in diapers. If thats what he wants, thats what he gets but make him diaper himslef and get him a youth diaper that will be more noticable. Did a search and found "Bambino Diapers" under the abdl search. I would order a case of these diapers and make him wear the diapers 24/7 and keep him in just a diaper and a tee shirt so everyone where ever he goes can see him diapered. Take him to the mall, wal-mart, the grocery store, take him everywhere. I guarantee you this will only last two weeks. In fact that was one of the suggestions on one of the sites I looked at to get it out of his system. Keep him diapered.

Yes you did something wrong. He's twelve and you're letting him wear diapers. You never bothered to parent him and you showed him that you don't care by letting him wear diapers in the first place. If you got tired of washing his clothes and sheets you should have tried other ways of getting him to go to the bathroom like taking away his games and TV until he learns to get up and go like a normal kid.

Wow, I am really hoping you mis-typed "12 years." That is insane!!! Most kindergartens will not admit children that are not potty trained... and those kids are like 4-5!!! I was 11 when my little sister was born and I was able to change HER diapers. She is now 12 entering junior high. I could not imagine her in diapers. Your son is old enough to know better. I think if he is too lazy to go to the bathroom, he shouldnt be allowed to be playing video games and messing himself, and are you crazy cleaning it up????
