Rev 7 says that a portion of each church will make it to heaven, that is those that profess Jesus as Savior and are saved under His blood. The Word of God is clear on this one, not the papacy.

Jesus was born Jewish, he fulfilled the Jewish law, He made a new covenant with the people. Some Jews chose to believe Him, and others didn't. The church that was formed by the disciples, the followers of Christ, were originally refered to as "The followers of the Way" -- That one church was a universal church, the definition of the world catholic. That church eventually began splitting off for various reasons. Read about Martin Luther an the Reformation if you want to know more about why that happened.

Well, yes, the Catholics would believe that only Catholics will make it to heaven. This is not according to Pope Benedict only, it is central to Catholic doctrine.

The pope is a dope - Jesus did NOT form a church.
As was Jesus, his disciples were Jewish (well, most of them were).
During his time, there were many branches of Judaism with many different interpretations of Torah.
After Jesus died, in order to attract more people into the theology of Jesus, the disciples saw fit to change the rules of Judaism in order to attract more followers.
Circumcision was one of the first things to go, along with food restrictions.
About 300 years after his death, the followers of Jesus were instructed to change the Sabbath from sundown Friday/Saturday to Sunday.
Catholics aren't the only Christians who believe that they are the true path to Heaven.
Just ask your local Church of Christ or 1st Baptist minister as to who has the stairway to Heaven.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.
With love in Christ.

*Is Catholic*
Catholicism is Judaism. Specifically Catholicism is the fulfilled form of Judiasm. This is central and key to the teachings of the Gospels and especially St. Paul.
It is a fundamental belief codified in Church teaching, including Vatican II, that the Jews are the children of the promise. Christ himself is the fulfillment of that promise. In the light of Christ, the religion of the Jews which waits in hope, obtains its hope and becomes the religion of Catholicism. They are one and the same religion, one waits in hope, one rejoices in obtainment of that hope.
There are in fact only Catholics in heaven. There is only one body of Christ, just as there is only one Christ. All who are in heaven must somehow become members of that body. That does not mean that you must be a formal member of the body on earth, which is and only is the Catholic Church as united on earth by communion with the Pope.
Besides heaven, there is only turning away from God, which is hell. Purgatory contains only the Church suffering, and all there look to God, and will enter Heaven.
What happened to sharing? In order to share Christ, to put on Christ as St. Paul would say, one must first come to Christ. Only can only truly come to Christ by being in communion with his Body, his Bride, the one holy universal and apostolic Catholic Church.
