Snipes?

Most of my hunting has been in the Southeast US so I really have no input on the rest of the country. The most challenging thing I ever hunted was bobcat or foxes. They are the sneakiest/quitest critters and are tough to get a bead on.

However if you really want a challenge then try hunting the razorbacks we have here with JUST a spear (no dogs). That has to be the single most challenging.

Bighorn sheep and moose, not because these are hard to find, but because they tend to live in the hardest to reach places on Earth. Sheep tend to live in high mountain ranges, which means you have a fun climb ahead of you. As for moose, you have a good long walk to get to their habitat, which is usually marshes and swamps. The farther away from civilization, the better they like it, but remember, after you shoot one of these half-ton boogers, you got to pack it back out.

Mule Deer in the D-Zones in California. They are out there but extremely hard to find. They live in some harsh areas as well. The success ratio is less that 10%.

I still say coyotes because they are everywhere but how often do you see them? Your not going to find a more challening animal to hunt.

Missouri Wild Turkeys are some of the toughest animals to hunt. Turkeys are so dumb that they will drown themselves if they look up in a rainstorm, but they will trick you everytime when you are hunting them.

That depends on your definition of challenging*...The Dictionary says > to summon to a fight, to defy,to call in question, to object to*... Based on the meaning of the word challenging I would have to say NONE*....... Hunter,Sportsman, Target shooter, Conservationist*.... Own 22 Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns, Revolvers*....Hunt Small Game and Big Game*....

I'd go with Big Horn sheep. Their nimble as hell, wily as all get out, and have the situational awareness of a Force Recon.
