When he is standing before the Great White Throne Judgement for his heresy of declaring himself God, and commanding who is saved by grace, and who is not, in his recent declaration reaffirming "apostolic succession"?

Isn't the Anti-Christ supposed to be making that declaration AFTER the rapture, 3.5 years into the tribulation, in the rebult temple in Jerusalem? A little early isn't he?

For thos Catholics who are turning their heads and refusing to see what he has said...

Try here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070710/ap_on_re_eu/pope_other_christians

Quote:"said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."

That is heresy, to take the saving grace AWAY from God, and assign it to the church.

He has in effect, re-affirmed himself as God, having the power to decide whop is saved and who is not because of what church they are members of.

The thief on the cross was a catholic? No.

Everyone Jesus forgave in the NT was a Catholic? No. The woman brought to be stoned He forgave, was she a Catholic? No.

Heresy, plain and simple. God decides, not Peter, Not Paul, Not ant apostle, or any so-called apostle in succession.

"Live For Jesus" and the others....

So quick you are to judge as well!

As a religious leader, it is my job to keep the heresy at bay, to make sure that like others, the leaders of churches do not promote such un-biblical doctrine!

The verse that the Cathloic church uses to tell everyone that they are going to hell unless they are RCC, is the statement made by jesus... "On you I will build my church." He was referring to "Peter's Faith" Pietra-Rock.

Any religious leader that states that God says if you are not a member of a specific church is a heretic plain and simple.

The Pope's statement is heretical, and demands to be confronted. GOD SAVES NOT THE CHURCH. To think otherwise is heresy.

Like it or not, The Pope is not going to simply cut God out of the loop in the salvation process. SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH! NO CHURCH SAVES!

And as a Pastor, I will confront, heresies like this any and every time they are presented. The Pope assumes the role of God by this.

The antichrist will say Jesus is not Christ. He hasn't done this has he?
He's made an awful mistake.

LOL! Amen Pope Benedict! He’s kicking a$$ and taking names!

The Pope 100% right. “Christ 'established here on earth' only one church," said the document released as the pope vacations at a villa in Lorenzago di Cadore, in Italy's Dolomite mountains.

One Church. Not 2 or 3, 5 dozen or 54,000 different kinds. One.

Christ gave authority to ONE Church. That authority has been preserved and handed down by apostolic succession. Anyone not in union with the Church is not in union with Christ. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION.

“However, for those who knowingly and deliberately (that is, not out of innocent ignorance) commit the sins of heresy (rejecting divinely revealed doctrine) or schism (separating from the Catholic Church and/or joining a schismatic church), no salvation would be possible until they repented and returned to live in Catholic unity.” (Quote from www.catholic.com http://catholic.com/library/Salvation_Outside_the_Church.asp)

“The other communities "cannot be called 'churches' in the proper sense" because they do not have apostolic succession — the ability to trace their bishops back to Christ's original apostles — and therefore their priestly ordinations are not valid, it said.” Wow. Couldn’t have said it better.

The pope in no way, shape or form is claiming to be God-like. He is simply telling the hard truth, though many will not like it.

Mr/Ms Church,

I am a Catholic. I practice as hard as I can. I have not seen, heard, read or dreamed of the Current Holy Father:

1) Declaring himself as God.

2) Outlining/commanding who will be saved and who will not.

What these allegations pertain to has no bearing on Apostolic Succession.

Clarifications welcomed.

Well over 1000 times a day it is said on here that Catholics are not "true" Christians. I am sure that this is painful to all Catholics. No the Pope as asserted the same about other denominations. And now you feel the pain that same pain. Use it grow by not to further destroy. I do not agree with the Pope's decision, but must acknowledge that perhaps some good may come of it.

LOL, maybe the 'rapture' already happened and you are still stuck here!

THE RAPTURE IS A NEW BELIEF! IT HAS ONLY BEEN AROUND 200 YEARS OR SO!

EDIT: He only said that about Protestants by the way--not about the Orthodox church. Besides that, you need to read the book Misquoting Jesus because he never said, For the one that has not sinned cast the first stone--that was added on later. FYI

Sounds to me like you're doing the exact same thing--passing judgment on someone else and their actions. If you believe it's wrong for the pope to do it, why is it right for you to do it? The pope is the leader of the Catholic church, and as such, leads the church and its followers. The pope is allowed to set doctrines and guidelines for Catholicism if he wants to--that's why he was elected to that position. He isn't claiming to be God. For you to be calling him the Antichrist is just plain silly, and for you to be passing judgment on his passing judgment is plainly hypocritical.

Hi^^

I am happy you gave the link. I couldn't figure out why all of a sudden Catholic was a real hot topic thank you for the link.

But I find it very important that we do not pass judgement on our brethren. I just want to clarify that he at no time claims he is God. If I am just not seeing that please add on to your question as well as the link in which you are getting this information from. thank you in advance.
As I wrote from one of my other answers:
Allot of people do not even know how the church became known as Catholic. Quite simply the meaning of "catholic" means universal. Or what Church means today.A church is an association of people who share a particular belief system. As well as let me add the meaning of a modern day Christian. What is a Christian a Christian is simply Greek word for "Christian," is Christianos. This means "follower of Christ; Christian." You can be any sector of the body but when you confess that Jesus is lord and belive with all your heart. You are a Christian. The religion you pick to follow is what you are titled by the world (at least now it is).

The war you are stating was placed on the body of Christ I feel was completely taken out of context to how it was really being expressed. The Pope does not clamed it all on the body of Christ. But he was expressing how he is not happy with the violence of a certain religious sector of the body of Christ. As well even not being Catholic many see and understand that it was meant that and he says cannot be called 'churches' in the proper sense" because they do not have apostolic succession — the ability to trace their bishops back to Christ's original apostles. Which is true like it or not. History dictates this Fact to us all. The word Church has evolved so much from the original meaning. To understand the point of view from the Pope is easy to see his feelings in this matter. It is so sad that even his most strident critics ripped his words out of context and vilified him.

The area of the body he was truly speaking of was Muslims and the fact (again a fact just look to the news) they are a very violent people. The reaction in the Muslim world was swift and severe, including protests, violence, and the murder of a nun. The Pope also states “God is not pleased by blood—and not acting reasonably is contrary to God’s nature. Faith is born of the soul, not the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats . . . To convince a reasonable soul, one does not need a strong arm, or weapons of any kind, or any other means of threatening a person with death . . . “

I can only say I am a little sadden by your closing statement that you feel that the Anti-Christ statement. As a leader you need to be a little more cautioned as to your comments and statements I feel that one truly needs to study and learn all they can before they pass judgement on another human. To say something as bold as this seems so wrong. It is hard not to feel a need to comment on it. As well it is the one of the only churches that has international policy. The Catholic chruch also it recognizes that many of the salvific elements of the Gospel are found in other churches and ecclesial communities also.

I am sure that you do not mean to pass such harsh judgment upon the Pope or anyone els for that matter. Someone who is a minister in the word should be very careful on the words one uses. It is imperative in teaching a body that you yourself study a little more to understand the complexity of what this really is and understand other parts of the body.

The Catholic Church has been writing things since the book of Acts by our first Pope. Does this make that wrong. He is a leader in the community which is a world religion. Not just one little city. It is hard not to face scrutiny and judgement by others when you are in the eyes of the world. Even if you are not that big it is very important that you realize that the Catholic Church and you are on the same side. Christians find their home were ever they want to in the body of Christ. The Pope is one of the most looked at Religious leaders in the world. Again he has never not a one calmed to be "God" himself.

In my eyes it is so very important that the Church stresses the responsibility of media to contribute to the authentic words that are spoken. Be in the Catholic part of the body or in another we owe it to each other not to tare down the body of Christ. To seek out and study all we can so we can guide each other in the very foundation of the word of God. To show Love and have a peaceful understanding.

Blessings to you,
Your Sister In Christ

Actually, Pope Benedict is asserting that the Protestant Reformation (which declared war on the body Christ) is still wrong.

(not that I am Catholic, just an outsider who can see it both ways).

This is the way I see it playing out.

Our Heavenly Father will thank Pope Benedict for his efforts in spreading the truth, at the risk of ridicule and hatred from the rest of the world.
"Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "

And then perhaps Benedict will hear the Father say something like this:
"His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'"
