If so which one. I am doing some remodeling to my house and I though things will be cheaper if I get a credit card. Do you have one if so what kind? Or is it the same if I paid with cash.

I have the regular store card, not the contractor card.

Like any store card they have high interest rates.

But HD does often have 0% interest promo's for 6 or 12 months (and sometimes longer) on various items when using the store card (the promo's aren't available when using the MasterCard).

When I'm looking to purchase an item that is $300+ and it doesn't have that promo attached to it, I will request it. Generally they will give it to me. For the times that they say no, I tell them I don't want to buy it from them and usually that will sway them into giving me the promo.

For high dollar items that only have a 6 month promo, I'll say that I'll buy it if they bump the promo up to 12 months, which they usually do.

So, not only do I get no interest for x number of months, I also have a good payment history reporting on my credit reports.

I also make sure that the promo's are "always" paid off one month early.

It is better to get a credit card from a major issuer. Chase has a home improvement rewards card where you can earn 3% on home improvement.

I wouldnt bother unless you are trying to build your credit score. Its just another account to deal with and normally they have awful interest rates.
