I've spent several hours in the woodshed, and can find no evidence to support this view.

you need to get a hobby. They appear thicker because if you have a long piece of wood which is 2cm thick it will wobble, however if you have a short piece it will not and therefore give the impression that it is thicker

The short planks were long in the first place til some gooner cut em in arf and nailed em together, double the thickness see!

What view? Its just the size you can still get long thick planks and short thin planks.

It's an optical illusion. Short boards only "look" thicker than long boards.
