on the back of an old photo found were the words mir or mur Fuhere with the double dot over the u in Fuhere. Can someone please tell me what it means?

It should be written Mein Führer, and it means my leader. This was the way people adressed Adolf Hitler.
It's something you can't say at all without the connotation to Hitler. Even as a joke, it would be diificult in Germany.

Could mean several things, like mein Führer or mein Früherer
(my earlier...).

It's probably
Mein Führer or "der Führer"
It either means Hitler or - more general "my guide" or "my leader"

BTW use "ue" instead of "ü" if you do not find it on the keyboard

my leader (something like that) It has quite negative meaning in Germany since Hitler was called like that from his people...
