The only issue I've ever heard of about drinking water from a plastic bottle is in regard to the actual bottle itself. If you look on the bottom of your plastic bottles, there is a symbol and the letters PETE under it; this refers to the type of plastic that the bottle is made out of. Given enough time in the sun (UV rays) the bottle chemically breaks down and filters into the water you are going to enjoy. Scientists haven't really identified how much of these chemicals is harmful to you, but they suggest not refilling your bottles either, because of the same reason. I know people, as I'm sure you do too, that have been refilling bottles over and over and over again, and they seem normal. I probably wouldn't use the bottle more than a couple times anyway, just because it starts to get gross after a while, but that's just me. The article I link to is from Wikipedia - not sure how accurate it is, but it's one source to look at for information on PETE.

If the water has not been opened it remains in a sterile state. If you open the water there is a small chance of some bacteria getting into it but would not have any effect for day's. I would advise drinking someone else's opened three day old water though. I know of at least on case where a truck with a several hundred case's of water sat on a dock for months in the summer and was sold later in stores with no repercussion.

i have drank bottle water 2 days after being opened but not more than that and u should do that neither. Fungus and bacteria could be there specially if the bottle has been exposed to the direct sunlight for hours

I read somewhere that when bottled water gets warm it can take on the properties of the plastic bottle. I couldn't find this article to post. However, i do the same thing...keep on drinking!

depending on the temperature of your car, it could be the perfect environment for growing bacteria. That's why you should probably throw it away. If your car was in really cold weather, then it would probably be ok.

I drink water left in my bedroom for DAYS!!! Like, over a week and it's still fine. It takes years for water to go rancid. Don't be afraid of your water unless it's got stuff floating around in it.

No, there is no problem. If it tastes bad, then only you need to worry. It tastes better slightly chilled.
