I have a friend that I'm going to bake brownies for on his birthday, since that's what he asked for. I was planning to decorate them, like with drawings on every brownie. But I don't know what to use to decorate them.
I'm not really on expert on baking (obviously) so I would really appreciate your suggestions :)

I've seen writing frosting packs at grocery stores. They come with four different color & are very easy to use. You can spell out words or draw pictures, & there's not an excess of frosting left over.
I use them all the time :]

I know this is different then what you mentioned but just giving you another option.
Make paper cut-outs of the design you want on the brownie and then use Confectioners sugar to decorate... The same way people use Doilies over their cakes and sprinkle powdered sugar through the Holes to decorate it.

You can decorate brownies with candies, such as M&Ms. Muffins, I wouldn't- just use a crystal sugar topping or something.

Melt some chocolate chips in the microwave (or candy bar) and use a fork to drizzle across the brownies. You can use peanut butter chips, butterscotch or white chocolate along with the regular. They look great and you can just do a little so it isnt too overpowering. Easy !

I agree that icing on brownies will be REALLY sweet, but I'd say spell out his name or something fun w/ M&M's or possibly other candy....easy to do, and tastes good w/ brownies!

I would make a template on wax paper..I have made stars, flowers moons and you can dust powdered sugar or cocoa powder so the sugar/cocoa is in the shape you want. It looks nice and it doesn't overpower the brownie

If he does not like icings or anything like that, I suggest you do not decorate them. If he likes whipped toppiing, and the brownie is like a cake brownie not fudge, thru middle

get the icing that comes in the squirt can its the best and easiest way to decorate or write stuff. then just add colorful sprinkles.

You should just put cute designs on the brownies with icing. Or you could buy edable stickers and stick them on the brownies. I think you can get edable glitter too.
