The Muslims are strong because of the following reasons.
1. Help from Allah s.w.t.
2. Preach the True religion taught by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
3. Protected by reciting the Alquran nul kareem.
4. Wash our self 5 times a day (Ablution).(hygiene)
5. Pray 5 times a day ( Physical movement )
6. Good hearted ( Sincere )
7. Patient and Tolerant ( Understanding / empathy )
8. Eat halal food ( Good, clean and healthy food )
9. Zikrullah (reciting praises to Allah swt and Prophet Muhammad saw ) (Active Brain)
10. No worries ( Faith )

Some of the Pakistani ones in the UK do try to look physically intimidating. This may well be cultural; many apparently came from Kashmir, an area where there has been a lot of lawlessness, so being mean and imposing helps so one is not taken advantage of (following that ingrained attitude).

if by Physical.. then that is because of good belief.. which ultimatly leads to good fittness since they need to be clean and take care of thier bodies since the bodies are gifts form God and should be taken care of..
as for religious (strong) belief... then it is because islam is super convicing and logical..
Oh i almost forgot... Prophet Mohammed said "Strong is not physical, it is to hold oneself during a moment of anger" or smthg like that
