IBeing a new athiest who has converted from from that fairy tale about a big boat and a flood or some **** (christianity) I'm wondering, where can I learn more?

Do we have like our own Athiest oriented websites?

It really rocks being athiest.

I love it.

the first few days i felt like i was going to go to hell when i died.

but it just were off.

like i guess its where i was conditioin to believ for so long.

like how you know in your heart santa is real even though the other kids are more mature and make fun of you for it. but when you find out he really dosnt, your not that brave soldier who stood up for santa, your just the only 6th grader who was that stupid.

and you dont belive hes fake even after you find out.

it troubles you and you still feel like he's real and you can feel him.
but then it wears off.

and you accept it

and never think back.

grow up christians, don't be the kid defending santa.

Sorry Charlie, I have met Santa and he is a Knight of Columbus. I never really believed in him until I was in my 30's. As to a higher power than Ayn Rand's objectivist ethos, I thought it was goose ploop too, until I had someone else's Death vision when I was 13. When and if you are ready your higher self, unbound from human logic, will show you what you are ready to see.
Or perhaps I am full of it, if my ashes feed an apple tree when I am no more it is enough. Just Pay your sales taxes, obey laws of the commonwealth and take care of your family and trust your gut.

sir, i would have to say that you were never really a christian.....you were never of GOD becuase you wouldnt have left him... do you really think that someone jsut made th whole story up about GOD and JESUS and all that?? do you think anyone really had that big of an imagination??what would people like paul, david, solomon and all those ppl have to gain by making all this up?what would anyone have to gain by making this up? jesus' miracles came form FIRST HAND accounts of it.. people who actually witnessed it... how do you think miracles happen?? i have seen them work! what do you think about a child who is on the verge of death and dr's say there is no hope. and then suddenly, the child is well, and doing great and leads a happy normal life.... even dr's who claim they belileve in science and not devine intervention, say they cant explain it... and these kind of miracles happen daily!! can you explain to me how that happens if a devine power wasnt involved?? and what about astral projection?? do you think that these people who have had all htese near death experiences could all have the same story about what happend if it was just a dream and the mind playing tricks?? they all have the same accounts of the things that happened to them. it cant be coincidence.

one thing about atheism, there's no weekly meetings, no "brotherhood" it can be a little lonely, in fact (partly because so many are afraid to reveal themselves publicly and partly because there is no real organization) but yes, there are websites... www.positiveatheism.org www.atheistempire.com
books are good, too The End Of Faith, Letter To A Christian Nation, The God Delusion... these are all good books... some cool speeches to be found on youtube if you search....

read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Yoda Green will probably have some good suggestions as well.

Welcome =)

Though.. you no longer believe in the bible.. as I.. that doesn't mean that perhaps God.. or A God couldn't exist. If he does.. I think he has been greatly flawed through the bible.

I do not consider myself atheist .. nor agnostic.. since I do not care.. nor am I searching or wondering. If a god does exist I wouldn't care b/c I am so content with life and i'me very greatful for what I have. I live to the best with my own morals and values..

Good Luck

One of the best tools is the Skeptic Magazine. You'll find it at most big chain book stores, and can order it off the web. I find its book review as useful as its articles.

Good luck, it 's nice having a free mind, isn't it?

Welcome, I think I know how you feel, about 30yrs ago I did the same, and after I rid myself of the years of guilt indoctrinated into me by the RC church, I felt a load lifted of my shoulders, and I've never looked back. Just Google Atheist and you will find lots of enlightening info for you to read.

www.skepticsannotatedbible.com is a good start

Read these books: "The God Delusion" by Dawkins, "The End of Faith" or "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris.
Bertrand Russel's "Why I am Not a Christian" is good.

How can you think you are going to hell if you are athiest? Athiests don't believe in hell. Just because you turned your back on God and don't believe now does not mean you are suddenly "wise" and can tell other people that they are stupid. How about having an open mind and realizing that you may not believe but it is OK if other people do?
